Default My experience with AutoTrader.com

Attempting to sell my car with autotrader.com was a total disaster, and waste of time, energy, and MONEY.

In 1 week, I got ~25 calls / emails.

paypal scammers.
Nigerian scammers
finance companies wanting to sell me financing for a potential buyer
aftermarket warranty companies.
web page builders wanting to build me a fancy page for the car sale.
wholesale car buyers low balling the **** out of me. and even offering consignment deals below market price.

NOT 1 VALID POTENTIAL CAR BUYER.

If you need to sell your car. TRADE IT IN !!!!!

I have sold six corvettes on Corvette Trader. As recently as June. Never had any issues with them. One I sold in six hours. Onsite at 9AM sold by 3PM.

But sure sounds like a hassle. May be just the C7's tuning everybody and his vendor's brother in.....

In our area we have a bi weekly publication called the Paper Shop, I think your chances of selling your car are just as good using one of your local outlets or Craig's list.

I have had very good luck listing on this forum. Bought a few & sold a few. Met some very nice Corvette folks along the way as a result.

sold four cars and one motorcycle on craigslist, all within one week of listing.

But yes now I just trade it in. The tax savings offsets most of the savings from selling it myself.

Sold a Honda Fit and an Acura RSX there in recent years. Nothing but interested buyers. Maybe the Corvette is drawing the attention... dunno

Default Auto trader

Once I went to Auto Trader and other automobile finder sites my email address became available to the world of "who the heck wants that" emailers. It is getting worse and unmanageable. Dozens and dozens of new emails. Never again

Pay the $15 for Privacy Shield. They screen buyers and know the scammers.

Sounds like my home sales in Vegas in 06...lol MLS 9am both under contract by 3PM. I am not having the same luck with AutoTrader, But I am priced pretty high becasue i really don't want sell.As I will be waiting for used C7s to really start hitting the market and they are depreciating faster and more dollars than my 05 going forward.

I've sold 5 cars on Autotrader with very good luck. I sold 3 of them in 11 days last year (2006 Tacoma, 2013 Scion tC and 2011 CTS-V Coupe).

Default Autotrader

My issue was not selling but email distribution. Never got one call from a dealer with an offer for me to buy a new car at a discount. All typical trade in stuff and gobs of unwanted emails. I was not selling a car. I was looking to trade and purchase.
