This time of year is probably the best to buy, spring is the time to sell.
Yes some dealers have higher prices as do some private folks. They're hoping to find someone who wants that particular car and doesn't care what it costs. It happens, but not often.
BTW, to achieve finding one at the best price, my search range is 300 miles.

road, I'm in Concord, NC, and have been searching out 300 miles also for a Vert. These things just haven't dropped in price. I'm seeing '14's with asking prices at what I can get a '16 for at one of our forum dealers. It's going to be a long search I think.

You would think after 2 years that they would be selling in the low 40's go figure.

I think some negative press on the Z06 is bolstering the Z51 values. Many reviews have said the Z51 car is the car to own, versus the Z06. Those reviews influence purchase decisions for sure. From what I've seen, Z51's are in pretty stout demand....people freakin love them.

I'm just waiting for one to fall into my price zone next year then she's all mine.

The Z51's I believe sell better than the Z06's because of the price.Would it be the same if the Z06 was the same price as the Z51's?I seriously doubt it.I hear people selling their Z-51's for A Z06.I don't hear people selling their Z06 for A Z51.

The other way around the Z06 helps the z51 price.
Negative press effects both cars!

Nope.

The negative press is centered almost entirely around overheating problems caused by the supercharged motor. That obviously doesn't affect the Z51 at all.

Several Forum dealers are offering new Z51s at 12% off.
That definitely affects market value.

I don't get it--'16 2 or 3LT listing for ~$70k, can buy with discounts for ~$62k take off $5k/yr depreciation and you should be seeing hoards of them for $52k. Dealers keep advertising '14's with 1000 miles or less for about the same as you can buy one new--do people just go buy and not shop or have they got rocks in their heads? Once you've driven that low mileage '14 for a year and now have 10,000 miles and the '17's come out yours is going to be worth in the mid-40's. So, either buy new or wait a year. At some point the '14's will have to start to depreciate--'til then drive your C-5 or C-6!

Outside of this forum, most people don't know about discounts. Otherwise no dealer outside of Kerbeck and the few others offering discounts would get any business. Some other poster said on here their dealer claimed it was illegal for them to sell at 8% off MSRP.

It's weird I bought mine in June of 2014 and I go look at prices and it's only A few thousand
Less than when I bought it new.Maybe when the 17's come out they'll go down more.
The C7 is popular it seems.

Many people that can afford these cars do not care about 5k here or there. They see it and buy it.

But there has been a ton of negative press over blown motors in the regular C7. Read Car&Driver's long term test on their Z51 C7 and you'd never buy one.

Machining burrs on the internals of an early production 2014.
That issue has long since been resolved.
2016 is a far cry from the early 2014 LT1s.....

Hope so. But other than a blown engine, they had about ten other assorted problems.

Again....
More issues with the first year of a new generation.

I have a 2006 Z06.....now with 61K...It's been a wonderful car to date.

There have been NO issues of any kind.
The original battery even lasted 7.5 years ! (on a float charger when not used for several days)

One thing that the high resale prices are saying--this is a GREAT car! I'll probably wait another year but I keep getting tempted even at these prices. It is a beautiful car!!!

Be careful fellas...I once thought to question the value and depreciation rate of the mighty Corvette back when I was looking at C6s and in response I was: flamed, boiled, tarred, feathered, and darn nearly banned I think.

So...don't question it. In fact, if anyone around here asks, you're to tell them that our cars "appreciate" so as to avoid the dangers I faced.

You can thank me later. Good luck out there.
