More C7 Rumors
While at Barrett Jackson, overheard some GM folks talking about the C7, asked if we liked the 63 split window, we would like the C7 design, look for a 2012 intro date however will be a 2013 model year. 50th year anniversary of the split window? In addition, talk that the front suspension will surround the engine. Rep said

When it comes to a car being aesthetically nice looking, I always look at super cars. High end Ferraris, Lamborghini, the Saleen S7... Name one with a split window for me. If there is one that looks good I will change my opinion, but I really don't see it working aesthetically, or FUNCTIONALLY.

Split-window is great for show/collector cars. But after driving a Chevy Express Van, I know I'd hate the vertical obstacle to rear visibility.
Mock-up your own "split window" with a piece of cardboard and put it on your C6. Then you'll understand why...
"Even those who advocated the split window concept admitted that it had drawbacks. Confirming that opinion were the many owners of 1963 Corvettes who proceeded to install the single rear window as soon as the parts became available."

IMO, the only reason the '63 split-window is desireable is because it's rare. And it's rare (and was only offered one year) because it was a bad idea for a street-driven vehicle.
My Bottom Line: If it's offered at all, I say make it an expensive option on fixed-roof C7 Z06/ZR1 models. Deep-pocket collectors will love 'em.

That would be weird. I have only been driving for 8 years and don't think I would be able to reverse without looking out the back. I can't imagine people who have been driving for 30-50 years switch to that? Cool idea, but would definitely like a "non split" back window for a while until I got used to the back up camera, so I dont plow something down haha

I was at a party last night with a person who is involved in next Corvette told me following.
1 GM was before Bankruptcy going to make a mid engine vette that is dead.
2. Next GM thought about coming out with extreme new design that is dead.
3. Next Corvette will be face lift of present but all will have aluminum frame as ZO6 and ZR1 and base HP will be around 450.
For what ever info is worth.
Man said much has to do with government control.

Split window only lasted one year as drivers didn't like the view. Rear view camera would help, but I don't want a C7 retro Corvette - let's move forward with the design, not backwards.
