Latest on C7 and C8
Forum heading for C-7 inop.
Check out this week's Autoweek magazine. It contains info on current GM thinking on the next C7 and C8. In brief, the C7 will be a mild styling re-do of the C6. The C8 (for 2016) is supposed to be "world class" mid-engined using a twin turbo V6! Price is expected to be around $60K -- but I'll bet by 2016 it'll be closer to 100. Though they say it'll have the HP, gone will the the V-8 rumble we love today. Check it out.

Lots of things can change with Government Motors between now and when either the C7 or C8 would come out. Let's just hope they continue to make the Corvette.

I would not buy it if its a V6. doesn't matter how fast it goes, how much power it makes etc. V8 or nothing, I'll go elsewhere and mourn the death of the Corvette.

What I don't understand is how a twin turbo V6 is going to afford such better gas mileage than the current C5 or C6. The C5 and C6 can already achieve in the upper 20's mpg with the existing V8. It seems a bit silly to to produce a car with a significantly more complicated engine that gets only negligibly better gas mileage. If they really want to progress, they might consider an electric motor. That would seem to be a much bigger step forward.

Burning Brakes
If GM puts a 6 cylinder back in the Vette it will kill it almost like it originially did. I dont care if it has forced induction on it or not.
