Default Next Gen Small Block V8 News

This is great news.

For anyone doubting if V8s at GM are still alive an well, this is further proof that not only are V8s not going anywhere, but they will be best the public has every seen from GM.

It's being reported that ALL Gen V small block V8 will come with DI and variable valve timing.

The Tonawanda, NY plant will be the first to start building them.

It says small block V8, the operative word being "small". Remember, Obama likes green and GM will want to keep Obama happy since he owns GM.

Previous reports pegged displacement at 5.5 litres... but I'm still hoping for about 5.35 litres. (Can you say 327? I knew that you could.)

As for politicizing yet another thread, give it a rest.

Since they have not mentioned any changes to bore spacing, materials, or deck height, why would we expect any different range of engine sizes than available, 4.8-7 liters.

HP should be up 10-15% for the same displacement with a similar increase in mileage, and a reduction in emissions.

What's not to love?

I would expect a lower displacement engine replacement at the same horsepower, to give themselves room to grow power through increasing the displacement in future model years.

The technology certainly exists. Look at the new Ferrari engine, 4.5 liter V8 with 562hp. I just don't have any confidence in GM right now.

Aren't you getting tired of this yet?

I'm no Obama fan, but with GM actually making money, there's talk that they could IPO within the year and get the .gov out of the GM ownership equation before the the C7 even debuts.

If you have to go on about Democrats, taxes, Obama and the state of federal investment in GM, consider pulling up your big boy pants and posting with the meat eaters in PR&C.

Yes, and it has different design criteria, won't likely fit under the hood or between the fenders of a Corvette. Additionally it won't likely get the same fuel mileage either.

From what I've read, there isn't alot of info on displacement, but the SC 6.2L we all know and love won't be going anywhere.

Here you go Mr liberal:

You actually expect the truth from a company run by Obama and the unions? You don't like Obama. Then who's you're favorite democrat, Barabara Boxer? San Fran Nan maybe?

It gets 12mpg. What more do you want? I guess we're back to a turbo V6.

Unlike you, I'm a lifetime registered Republican who can understand the difference between a CAR forum and a POLITICAL forum.
