Will C7 be part of the 2 Second Club?
The 2 sec club:
2012 Nissan GTR: 2.94 sec
2011 PORSHE 911 TURBO: 2.84 sec
2012 BUGATTI VEYRON : 2.52 sec
From Road and track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jOQFMlpdVI
All are AWD.
We know the C6 ZR1 has enough power but traction is the problem.
Can Chevy make the C7 faster without AWD?

No. Simple answer.
Without AWD and stock street tires, a sub 3 second 0-60 won't be possible in the c7.
The 08+ Ls3 C6s I believe were 3.9 0-60... and the z06 is 3.5 I believe.
The regular C7 will probably do 0-60 in 3.5-3.6 seconds... I believe the c7 will be very close to the performance of the outgoing c6 z06.

On the street or on an unprepped surface it will be very unlikely.
But for the record, both the C6 ZR1 and even the C6 Z06 have already ventured into the 2 second 0-60 range in bone stock trim (factory tires and all) on a drag strip.

Probably will be the ZR (or whatever the top dog is called) that dips into those times for C7 - and even then will require good launching/driving.

Maybe we should be more clear-----not on the street in stock form, nor repeatedly. To my knowledge not even the 458 is clearly in the twos which would likely be best comparo for the new top dog.

The 0-60 time is taken from a particular calculation derived from using the various splits off of a car's 1/4 mile time slip.
Now, you both do know what the quickest 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile ETs and trap speeds (not magazine numbers, but actual owner's cars driven by non professional drivers) are for a bone C6 ZR1 and a bone stock C6 Z06, right?
When a car runs a 1.6 or even 1.7 sixty foot on it's way to a 6.9 second 1/8th mile ET at well over 105+mph, it has NO CHOICE but to be in the 2 second range for the 0-60 measurement.
Of course we're talking about a well prepped track surface (as I clarified early on) and some will even try and dismiss or discredit the results based on that, but it still happened regardless. The cars have shown that they are in fact capable of it, especially the ZR1 which might even be in the low 2 second range on those particular passes.
Yes, factory bone stock cars on factory installed OEM tires.
And yes, the Z06 for sure as well.

The more important question is will it take more or less than 2 seconds to look at it and say "****, that rear end looks hideous!"

If I want a drag car, it wouldn't be a Vette. Being dynamic, those other cars are also going to step up their game, including performance hybrids, which aid in instant thrust(Porsche/GTR/etc)

I know the ideal of using 0-60 as a measuring stick but in reality, 99.999% of drivers are not going to dump it and launch that hard. For me personally, I like the idea of it taking skill to launch it & smoking the tires. It is not as fun to me to have AWD & chirp the tires.
The fact is no one races their street car for a living. It is takes you a few seconds to make a lap is pretty much irreverent. It is more about the thrill of driving a car & being able to master it, as least for me. The last thing in the world I want is an AWD, computer driven car that prevents me from making mistakes.
If we really wanted improved track times, they could program in the perfect inputs for most race tracks in America & the driver simply pretends to drive.
