Corvette C7 dct?
I believe the next generation corvette will have an option for a dct. I also believe that there will be a 7 speed manual to go along. The dct will have a 7 speed also. What do you guys think, if you were going to buy one, would you buy one purely manual or auto, dct?

Sorry, but discussed up one side and down the other. Search for DCT and you can read all night.

I wish GM would do a DCT for the corvette...it would push me to purchase yet another corvette..but at the same time...I highly doubt they will do it.
To much investment in planetary gearboxes so our best shot is a Planetary Gearbox with no torque convertor but rather computer controls.
AMG"s MCT transmission is excellent and I highly suggest that would be a great way to go..
still either the DCT or MCT are really about driver experience improvements and GM traditionally only looks at empirical (SP) data so both are highly unlikely...
AMG's new C63 coupe with 481hp and a 4000 lb curb weight rips off 3.7 seconds to 60mph because of MCT..it will also tear off a 8.6 second time to 100 mph ...with a quarter mile trap speed of 12.1 @ 120mph ...all for the very low sum of 57 grand..(can be optioned up to around 80 g's.)
This new AMG C63 coupe's not pretty but it sure can consistantly haul @ss..
I sure would hate for GM to finally create a beautiful interior and of course a beautiful new exterior only to loose the performance edge over very supercar in the industry..(save a few lone buko buck machines...
I don't think I'll be happy seeing a tenth of a second improvement in acceleration over the C6 with the C7 and not have consistancy that matches the MCT and DCt crowd.
Keep asking the question because maybe one day GM will realize its not always about statistical data but also inclusive of driver feel..
DCT and MCT offer a much greater connection for driver feel than even the best torque convertor automatics can offer..

I think I saw somewhere that the DCT idea has been dropped. I hope that I am just making that up, maybe I should look around a bit.
Anyhow, I love the idea. If cars as simple as a Hyundai Velostar or Ford Focus (crap as its transmission may be) can have a DCT, surely the C7 can. It just makes sense and I think it will propel the Corvette to be taken more seriously by the Euro-snobs.
