You should never look at a Corvette and go "I see a little bit of the Camaro in that design". It just shouldn't happen and I hope that's not the case with the C7.

Love the looks of that & hope it's close to reality. The suspense sure is building & GM is doing an amazing job of keeping us in the dark. I test-drove an 08 Z06 yesterday & sure was fun - In addition to the incredible yet tractable power, was surprised by its amazingly light clutch, so hope they retain the lightness of that in the next gen. Looking forward to higher quality interior on the C7, too - seems some interior pieces are really prone to scratches (at least in all the lightly used ones I've seen). However, I think the Centennial package interior looks terrific, so there is hope for that as well. Can't wait for more C7 info!

I prefer the lights from the 2011 version more than the 2012.
However, both just look like a little make over of the C6 and not a new design. But between the two, I pick the 2011 rendition.

If you're talking about the headlights, that's one thing on the C7 rendering I prefer to the C6. Never been a fan of the C6 headlight design. The taillights on the C7 rendering, however, are an absolute atrocity and I pray that's not what the final product looks like.

I know a lot, if not pretty much everyone here will completely disagree or burn me at the stake for saying this, but I think those taillights on the Jalopnik rendering could look pretty sweet. It is the rest of the rear that just look absolutely horrid. The way the exhaust is in the diffuser, the diffuser itself, the sharp edges on the corner of the panels and around the taillights. If they reworked the entire rear-end, I really think those tails would look aggressive as all hell, and they are not terribly much like the Camaro.
However, with the newly posted thread of real spy-shots of a camoed C7 in Michigan, I think it is safe to say that at least the diffuser does not look like that, and it appears the tails are also not square.

I agree about the rear tail lights shouldnt look like the camaros.
The Camaro it self just looks WAY to big, weighs to much and the instrument panel (unless you where into the old 60's Camaro) SUCKS!
I sat in on at the auto show and i also sat in a Mustang (that looked bad too).
I hope they stop this Retro styling thing.
I dont have anything bad to say about the C7 because I havents seen it yet, yeah we see the spy shots and all hype shots but lets see what it looks like standing right up next to one.
I wont be buying one(insuficiant funds) but I hope it represents the Corvette name like all the other great vettes have.

this is, of course, the rear end of this guy:
This is the spectre werkes c6 vette.
Just point out, the design seems quite similar, and in this case, much better looking than what it looks like on the renderings.
Just my 2cents and food for thought.

Sad Truth
I too am disappointed with the design, especially the rear. Sadly it was not my decision. Also sadly, the Car & Driver sketches are very close to the truth.
Don't ask what you want to ask. And believe it or not, your choice.

Drifting
Why is he a troll? Even with the camo paint and covering you can clearly see the shape of the rear on the test car matches the renderings very closely. Oh wait, this is a decoy car right?
I am not saying everything is exact to the renderings. Obviously you can't tell about the rear lights. The front looks close too with a longer overhang. The overall body proportions are close too.

I'm concerned about the styling of the C7, and the speculation thus far has not been any comfort.

too funny...i'm still warming to c6. the model where they came out with those hideous gills on the sides doesn't help...
might skip c4 (although i like a '96 anniversary edition or a zr-1) and go c3. a black/black '71 big block stingray would be sweet!

Heh, I won't go forward, but I sure won't go backward that far, either. I like the C6 body style, and would probably upgrade to one of the last ones of that generation.

I was able to get the video back of the c7 corvette that was spotted testing on Michigan streets.
