Are you going to buy a 2014 C7?

The next Government Motors "efficient" 600hp in a C7 will not be "green enough". It surely won't be a 427 and most likely will be a direct injected twin turboed version of a LS3. They could do it in 2014 but I seriously doubt there will be a high hp C7 in 2014. Perhaps 2015 but probably a ZR-1 type in 2016. Following historical Corvette marketing would tell us that first year production has been mostly one model taking advantage of the "new" styling followed in succeeding years by a gradual upgrade in hp, special editions and new models such as convertible and GS types.
I say get a C6 fully optioned and fully matured after 8 years and enjoy it for 3-4 years while the C7 gets sorted out.

I really like my C6. The new one will have to be a technological leap forward and not just an evolution to get me to the dealership. My current car is plenty fast, fuel efficient and comfortable and stylish for me to continue to be fully satisfied. I even don't mind the seats as much as some around here. I owned a C4 before and skipped the C5 and went right to the C6. Mayb I'll skip he C7 and wait for the C8.

I was thinking about a CTS-V myself...but, I really wanted a dedicated sports car. I already have a very fuel efficient 4 place car as a grocery getter...I agree with the above sentiments. It'll take GM at least 2-3 model years to sort out all the newly introduced bugs and problems in the up and coming C7. The C6 has had eight years to get things sorted out. I've been reading about how the first 2-3 years of the C6 were almost a disaster.... grenading engines, transmission problems and noises, torque tube vibrations, etc. I'd much rather have a slightly older platform that's fully developed than the latest platform, though it's more technically advanced...Besides, looks like the LS7 is going bye-bye on the C7.

Thanks for the correction...that's actually great to hear.
Though I did read that the 2009 models were particularly troublesome.

I will not be getting a C7. Don't get me wrong, I love my Z06 and will be keeping it but I want to add a new Viper to the stable.
Sunk way too much $$$ into the Z06 to sell it (ADV.1 10.1SL rims, Halltech GT2 Dred Hood, Katech Aero kit, Akrapovic titanium exhaust, Caravaggio interior with Daytona Race seats, RaceMesh, Halltech CF102 intake and heat sheild, .....).
But she sure is purdy. I know I will not have to mess with the new Viper's interior. Seen it 2 weeks ago at the Mid Ohio American Lemans race. The interior is a work of art.

Based on what I've seen so far - Hell no.
My eye is on the new SRT Viper... YEAH THAT'S RIGHT! I SAID IT.
Hopefully the C8 won't let me down AND I hope everything I've seen so far about the C7 is wrong so maybe I can kick myself in the face. As of right now - that doesn't seem likely.

After owning 2 C5's and a C6 I was all-in on a C7 - however after being convinced what we've 'seen' of the new car i threw in the towel - what an ungodly mess. GM still got my $ though in the form of a `12 CTS Coupe, Caddy seems to be the only division headed in the right direction IMHO....

Unmodified C8 of the Year 2021 Finalist
2018 C7 of Year Finalist
I spoke to someone at the Carlisle Corvette Show yesterday that is a "GM Insider" and his comment on the C7 is that we will not be disappointed with either the exterior or interior. Only the coupe will be initially offered and that the C7 has a decidedly Euopean Look, some hints of a Ferrari.
I know, nothing really new there, but I would hesitate buying a different sports car until we can actually see this one. I'm keeping my power dry until January, 2013.
An aside: The Carlisle Corvette show was fabulous as always, almost to the point of Corvette overload. My guestiment was that 90% of the attendees were over the age of 45, with 55+ being about 75% of that!!! I fit right in!

Especially on ANY first year GM product...would make me veeeerrrrryyyy nervous. Definitely would have to have a extended warranty! In the words of Mr. Rogers, "can you say campaigns and TSBs?"
