Who is THE MAN????
I am curious, who is the GM person (persons?) who had the final say on the design of the C7? Didn't these players change since the C6 announcement. I'll be curious to see "whose "BABY" this is.

Well, while there is no thing as 'the man' anymore, the closest would be Ed Welburn. He has vowed that Lutz's innovations will be continued.
..but again, it isn't like it used to be anymore. The C5 brought in a whole new "Voice of the Customer" group think approach. That is why the C5 looks like a Pontiac, I'd guess.

I wasn't aware of this. Is anyone else aware of this? I could have sworn my C5s have all looked like Chevys.
I'm so confused.

Remember when Bob Lutz was with GM and allegedly he said " that is not the next Corvette " when he was looking at a prototype C6 ?
I was always curious of what the prototype looked like a what he wanted changed.

I quote from Tom Peters, Chief Designer of the C6 and now GM Performance Design Director...
"The C5 was kind of split-grilled, and we realized that there was criticism of that as being too Pontiac-like. Looking at older Corvettes, they all had a center-port opening and I wanted to get back to that. Lo and behold, that worked out great for the race team."

Don't be confused. A lot of people complained about it...the Chief Designer of the C5 also designed the Pontiac Fiero.

Sorry, but that argument is BS.
When I look at a 4th Gen Camaro, I see a Corvette - minus the flip up headlights.
When I look at the 4th Gen Firebird, I don't see Corvette at all.
There's nothing Pontiac about the design. So I don't get where that's coming from.

C4 Corvettes had nearly identical split grill bumper designs. So did C3s.

You know what. The more I look at C5 pictures, the more I can see it. But it's a stretch, to me. I rarely think about Pontiacs, maybe that's why it never struck me.
