C7 What we now know should be Enough!
Flogg me if you like but with the following info. We should be able to put together the C7 without actually seeing one.
1. It will be lighter and somewhat shorter than the C6
2. It will have a more European look meaning European Luxury Sports car instead of American Muscle while still looking like a Corvette. I think that with the exception of the rear and some side vents it will look like the Jalopka (SP) rendering. It will have a more agressive looking rear treatment, close to the Ferrari with round taillights and a wider exhaust opening. It will be called the Stingray and have at least one cue from the mid-year cars.
3. The interior will be more luxurious with lots of high tech similar to the new Cadillac. After all why re-invent the wheel.
4. In the first year there will only be a coupe with a removable top but no wide body cars. None of the spy shots indicated a wide body car. And if you look closely at the spy shots with the Camaro in tow you can see how much smaller the C7 is!
5. The engine will be smaller, lighter, direct injected with sequential valve timing making about 450 HP in base trim and the tranny will be a new 7 speed auto and manual
6. There will be only two seats and the seating will be similar to a recaro design for both comfort and stability while driving fast
7. The base price will most likely be increased by 8-10% initially
8. I doubt that there will be more than two new colors but if you want a clue of the colors look to the current Cadillac colors.
9. The frame will be all new, made of aluminum and made at the Bowling Green plant..Extruded aluminum similar in design to the current frame as the C7 will share most of the same dimensions with the C6.
10. The wheel base will be slightly longer both for ride stability and appearance and the wheels will tuck into the wheel wells a bit to make the Corvette appear to be lower. The overall height will be about one inch lower.
I have not seen the car nor do I work for GM. I do work for a supplier and have put 2 and 2 together. And I have been to the Plant within the last week. Saw nothing.

The engine is still a 6.2 with added weight, the convertable looked to have different seats. OP did you read any of the LT1 threads or look at the spy shots prior to making this thread?

I was told no Convertible in the first year from a good source. Also the suspension will be a modified version of the new Cadillac suspension and that either or both the steering and brakes could be electronic with hydrolic back-up.

My GM insider told me the car would be a 6.2l VVT 450+hp 450tq, oh and cylinder deactivation. I trust my guy, just like I trust the pic of that convertable mule that will be for sale the day this car is released. You might want your guy to provide better info. LOL

7% or 8%, maybe (my guess is closer to 5%).
But it's highly unlikely that the base 2014 Corvette will MSRP at a full 10-15% higher than the base 2013 model.

I think Rick Conti said that there will be two cars at the unveiling: a coupe and a vert. Of course, it doesn't mean that they won't delay production. But it doesn't sound right.

So a cutting edge frame, cutting edge motor and upgraded interior will yield a 5% boost in price? No I don't think so.

I don't agree with two things you stated:
1. Looks like a convertible will be ready by year one, and
2. Round lights. At this point, I doubt they will be round, unless every spy pic or video to this point has been wrong.

2) The general (ie: non technical) buying public does not know nor even cares about DI or VVT or even aluminum frames (again, if it's even going to have one). They just want a pretty new sports car and will not tolerate a $7500.00+ price increase in ONE SINGLE model year.
And a 15% increase would in reality be far greater than just $7500.00 because the outgoing car is being drastically discounted right now while the new car will be MSRP (or higher) ONLY for the first few months.
Corvette has never seen that kind of price increase on a base model in one year before so I can't see it happening now, GM/Chevrolet typically doesn't work that way. Especially in this current economy/sports car buying climate.
Yes, it will go up in price from the current base of $49k+ no doubt...my guess is that the base MSRP will be roughly $53k, as low as $52k+ and maybe as high as $54k.

One spy shot of the rear in the sunlight showed either round or somewhat oval tail lights. I was clearly obvious through the camo..check it out...But anything could happen. Just an observation

Your source is accurate..however the engine will be lighter
