The C6 two-tank configuration seems to have worked well. Will it be the same in the C7 and if not, what makes more sense?

I can't believe GM has kept the crappy rattling rear roof latch for the c7!
That was causing my c6 roof to be noisy ..

Blue, tried to say this. Two "nots" in a sentence confuse you?
The result, according to chief engineer Tadge Juechter, is "a truly all-new Corvette. There are only two carryover parts from the C6 used in the C7 - the cabin air filter and the rear latch for the removable roof panel."

Never one to shy away from controversy I find myself comparing the Scion FRS to our beloved C7. Bizarrely I think there is some aesthetic resemblance to the C7 and with that I would like to segway into the fact that ths car has back seats .
The Scion has the saddle style gas tank mounted under the rear seat cushion.
Please remember, the Scion FRS is a smaller car than the C7 and it does everything quite well.

OK, so they may be different parts but are they or it a significantly different design over the two-tank design?

I doubt it, just enough change to call it a new part(s). I do like my '11 Taurus cap-less gas tank fill spout. That would be a nice upgrade though probably a Ford proprietary fill system.

I'm tellin ya guys, not sayin' I like it either, but the C7 will be 2+2. Not sure about a seat delete option, as that seems too costly to put into production...
And next year when they put the 300hp STI motor, brembo brakes, BBS wheels, Recaro seats, etc into the BRZ...at 2,800 lbs...it will be a world-class sportscar.

I knew I could bait you into commenting about this!
Seriously though, that basic gas tank design dates back to C5 years so aren't there some design advancements that could be taken advantage of in the C7?

None of that is fact. What is fact is that the c7 will not have back seats, and will have roughly the same gas tank layout.
The comparison to the brz/frs because they have sorta the same windows or both have similar grills or both have internal combustion engines or whatever is nonsense. Two different cars, two different purposes. Th main point however, is seats simply won't fit. Put them under the rear seats like the brz/frs? Where exactly? The trans axle and considerably larger wheels/tires are in the way. That right there kills it all. The transaxle and wheels take up space the brz/frs has to spare. Why do you think the hatch area isn't level with the floor boards? If it wasn't for sizable equipment back there, the hatch would be even deeper probably.
