Wasn't getting on you about the price, just that even the idea of sending in a core ls7 was comical.

It seems like for a standard engine, it's pretty beefy so far this is true. But the rules of economics still apply that something that is produced 10x more then another should be cheaper even with the added tech(the direct injection bits don't cost THAT much more then their port injection counterparts) and costs associated with it. Plus like I said, there's nothing that should drive the cost of an ls2 far beyond an ls1, but I can guarantee new they weren't simply $200 apart. It's a hard argument to charge more for say a 485hp engine vs a 505hp engine regardless of benefits of said 485hp engine. Guess we'll see.

I also do not think the LT1 crate engine will sell for that much...I can't even see it being more than $10k.

Oh yeah, the core charge is BS. No one is going to bring a core in, they are counting on that.

All small blocks are built in great numbers, so the economies of scale are about equal from generation to generation. The LS would cost a lot more if it were not built in a large #.

Remember guys, the fuel pump is probably really expensive and the capacity of the fuel system as a whole is in the 3 digit area.

I think they may cut the cost down a bit over time, but not right away. Those who really want to be the first LT1 swapped x chassis will pay $ to be first.

Not to mention the appeal of finding the limits on a block when it's first released. Someone will buy it to bold on the biggest turbine and make _000hp. It will have a higher max output than the LS generation, gotta pay to play.

Just like the micro-electronics that make today's engines possible, it costs to be on the bleeding edge
