What do you think the weight of the C7 will be?

Current Z06 weighs 3175 pounds. How much do you think that the weight of the current Z06 would be reduced if you removed the dry sump(15 pounds), replaced the large brake rotors with the smaller rotors found on the base C6 and replaced the heavier wide wheels/tires with the lighter wheels/tires from the base C6? 88 pounds?
Then subtract the weight saved by replacing the heavier hood, roof panel, roof halo, rear quarters, door skins, rocker panels and rear hatch on the current Z06 with lighter carbon fiber parts. 75 pounds? Then replace the Z06's aluminum rear crossmember with a lighter Mg crossmember. 10 pounds? Replace the steel mufflers and over the axle exhaust with a lighter titanum exhaust. 20 pounds?
I see some 208 pounds of fat right there, that can be removed off the current Z06. I bet there are some other weight savings with the new C7 design such as a lighter hatch because of a much smaller rear glass. 10 pounds?

Good pt about the titanium exhaust. I hope they bring that back on the Z06 and its too quiet so everybody sells them to people like me for $300. That was an awesome upgrade on the C5 if you don't mind a quiet exhaust.

Since I assume all guesses are based on the less comparable curb weight/full tank method, put my money on 3127 lbs.
Making it around 3015 without fuel, or about 135 lbs less than a 2013.
All automakers tend to overestimate how much they can actually cut. So I'd be truly amazed if the base C7 came in under 3,000 lbs, since that was probably GM's shipping weight target to begin with.

It is interesting how much modern creature comforts and safety equipment have added to vehicle weight. I came across the specs for a 1963 IH Scout SUV which was a small vehicle but not designed to be especially light. Although the engine is an I-4 of 152 CID this was made using the larger 304 CID V-8 with one bank truncated and these engines were of cast iron and definitely not built to be light. So this 1963 low tech SUV had a base weight of 2,800 pounds with all fluids in place. Even with this low base weight there wasn't much capacity left before it hit its rated 3,200 pound GVW

2,9XX is would be a magic number for marketing purposes and surely was the target. Something that begins with a "29" would provide huge bragging rights.
What with aluminum, magnesium and CF substitutions, the C7 team will have tried every trick in the book to get to that point. My prediction is somehow they announce this thing with a weight of 2,9XX lbs (but read the fine print ).
