Default LT1 Harmonic Balancer

Does anybody know if the LT1 will finally have a keyed crank snout ? Just curious if we will have to live with the occasional harmonic balancer that decides to wiggle itself off like some have had with the LS series engines.

I don't know if the LT1 will have a keyed shaft, but, the press fit harmonic balancer was an issue on the very earliest 2005 C6's, a diamond washer upfit fixed this issue.

Beyond that the harmonic balancers on the LS series engines still are known to "come apart". Crazy - should be totally avoidable. Wouldn't be such a big deal except the work to remove / replace it in a C6 is considerable.

I have to wonder if the installation has something to do with the LT1 HB coming loose? I have almost 140K miles on bottom end of LT4 with oversize cam and raised RPM limiter that has had HB removed and reinstalled a couple of times and it still remains in correct orientation. As far as the LS HB coming apart, I had an aftermarket that did that (sort of cheap one) but my ATI is running great. I would suggest quality and correct installation.

It is keyed on the LS9 in the ZR cuz it's driving a huffer. If they're setting the LT1 up to take minimal changes to put a huffer on it, perhaps they'll key the LT1.

We can only hope. I have heard of a few people that needed this repaired more than once.
