why isnt the 7 speed MT giving us low 11's?????
the 2010 porsche 911 turbo does 11.4 quarter mile and 3s 0-60 with only 500hp and it weights 3500LBS!!!
what was the point of this new 7 speed tranny in the C7 if we are still doing 3.9s 0-60 as the GM stingray website says? seriously!! tech discussion please!!

Safety Car
Fuel economy and tech bragging rights,
I'll be very interested in seeing how it shifts, finding the gates on the six speed can be challenging, especially during a downshift.
I can't see how adding another gear is going to help matters, maybe they've devised a new gate system to help?

yeah its all gonna come down to the 60ft. 450hp manual with 285 rears... you are looking at i dunno maybe 1.85's or something which you will need that HP to make up for in the 2nd half to get very far into the 11's.. thats why im saying this car will hover around low 12s for the average driver with a few glory tracks dipping into the high 11's
AWD is almost not fair i run 1.58-1.62 60fts stock which results in 0-60 in 2.8sec and 10s even though there are higher HP cars that will out trap me but be way off on ET

Drifting
MT's first look claims 3rd overdrive. I had hopped they would keep the same relative overdrives they have now, and shorted up 1-4 or 1-5. It does say Z51 gets closer overall ratio spread.
All they've been saying is sub 4 second 0-60. We'll have to wait for more published numbers to know for sure.

Yep exactly. Consistent sub 3 second 0-60 times for the fast AWD cars even though they're all quite heavy. You can't touch that leaving the line. HP on the top end is your only hope...and you better bring a lot of it

Unreal. There are no performance numbers out yet. They haven't even announced the final weight or horsepower numbers. But it's not fast enough... <bangs head into wall>...

they didnt mention launch control but i guess it would carry over. ive only seen it used on a corvette grand sport when i raced it and it didnt work too well. So this one of those cars that will vary driver to driver a bit

Doesn't need to. It should be enough to make the 991S look very overpriced. That's what really matters.
The Z06/ZR1 models will go against the inevitable 991 Turbo/GT3 models.

What makes you so sure that it won't run low 11s bone stock?
You can quote me on this...in private hands (not necessarily the mainstream car magazines) on a prepped drag strip in the right air, a bone stock 2014 Corvette WILL run an 11.4 second (or quicker?) 1/4 mile time at over 121+mph.
