You're entitled to your opinion, and we are entitled to tell you yours sucks.

Why do you post in these negative threads about the C7 then?

What I loved about the Corvette growing up is that it was original and nothing out there looked like it for the most part. I cant say this about the C7. I am 32 Years old and have owned 3 corvettes. When the C5/C6 came out I didnt need to see it in person to have that Corvette feeling towards it. Looking at them on Tv or internet I could tell it was a Corvette. I cant do that with this one. I will have to see it in person to have that decision.

I also remember when the 98-02 Trans ams came out and all the hype about how bad *** they looked and how fast they are.. Look what happend to them!

Thanks, for the list. Maybe we should start a thread. It's a damn shame that you can't even enjoy the forum without having to scroll through all of the negative topics to find a normal one. THe first page is more than 70% of people complaining...and it's usually the usual suspects in every thread.. The mods should make a sub forum "bitch" room for them to whine and bitch in.

Problem with OP's analysis is the use of the word "rice." Really, what you see with the C7 is what you see with current generation Lambos and, to some extent, what BMW did with the Z4. A styling trend that may have gotten started with the Countach, and carried to the masses with Toyota's "angry chipmunk" Celicas from about a decade ago. Sort of an industrial angularity that may or may not have that much staying power (seriously, do Countaches, at least those with the fender bulges and big square scoops, really look that good to you today?) While it might appeal to a lot of ricers, it is not rice.

I really like the C7, better than my C5 and the C6. But 10 years from now, I wonder if the C7 will be regarded as having been as nicely styled as the C5 and C6? And, will everybody be complaining about the C8, or happy that it is replacing the C7 in the Vette lineup?

Minority?

That thread about what people 39 and younger think of the Corvette I see has 240 people voted they love it and 309 either vote they have some issues with it or disslike it all together. I fall under the I have some issues with it. For me if I have some issues with a car I will tend not to buy it especially when I am gonna shell our 50k plus for it.

Do you even know the meaning of "rice"?

Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements

Every race inspired part of this C7 is functional, not cosmetic.

Default Too much Bling

Having owned 8 Corvettes from C1's to C6's, I would just like to say this about the C7. The mechanicals of the car seem like a big step forward. That new LT1 engine..the 7-speed manual, the super stiff chasis, ride control...etc. As for styling...I haven't made up my mind yet. Certain angles on the car look pretty sharp. My major disappointment is the rear end. I think the "Camaro look" cheapens the car. This is another case of change....for change's sake. The instrument panel and dash looks like something from Japan..with the
digital, video game, gimmicky look. Chevy tried this once before with the
C4..I guess they didn't get the message yet.

I know Chevy is trying to capture the younger buyers, so the styling is to cater to that age group. The company wants to get rid of the image of the Corvette being an "old man's car". Obviously..very few younger guys have never driven a Corvette, or they wouldn't have that opinion

But it bothers me, when the Corvette has to always mimic the European and Asian cars. The Corvette is an American car, designed for American roads, and driven by Americans. That's what makes it unique...it should be car that doesn't have to be a copy or clone of any other sportscar. As Chevy has shown..its possible to match or exceed the foreign manufactures performance figures and styling without resorting to gadgets and "trendy" design.

I'm sure the C7 Corvette will grow on me after awhile, and even with
the few things I don't like about it...I'm still a "Chevy guy"..and a "Corvette guy"..and it feels great driving these cars and know it
is a product of American ingenuity and design and built in this country
At least we still have something here that doesn't say "Made in China"
on it.

Once again...I say...the Marketplace will deceide if GM did it right. Do I like it....NO. And, for a number of reasons most of which have been stated in the various threads making the rounds in C6 and this Forum. However, I am a VERT person and will wait to see what that brings.

Technology wise, they did it right. I wanna see and drive the 8 speed auto when it comes out.

Remember, we all can disagree without becoming disagreeable. Just because someone doesn't see it your way....there is no need to call him/her names.

It's GM's IP. The corvette name and brand belongs to them. Same with the GTO.

If they put the name on it, guess what? It's a corvette!

Just because you don't like it doesn't make it not a corvette or rice. No one cares what the chrome trinket car show crowd thinks.

That means the C7 styling is current and relevant to those raised on computer games with limited graphic capability whose limitations determined how oblects were represented. That may or may not appeal to those who currently have sufficient wealth buy a Corvette. That upgrade usually takes the form of making the objects look more realistic.
If I'm right, the C7 should have an initial appeal to an audiance that is going to want an upgrade in three years to a more realistic style - whatever more realistic means.
IMO there is nothing lasting about the C7 Ricer styling, nothing that deserves the label Stingray, nothing that people will look back upon as having set a new styling trend. Although the C7 styling may well have set a new expectation of three year production runs from the styling pint of view.

SK360 you are correct. The OP does not know why ricer means. What this thread should be about is you don't like the car because of the way it looks. Not calling it a ricer. I will educate you what ricer means. A ricer is a car (does not have to be foreign) that adds pointless body modifications to the car that do not add performance. The C7 seems to be function and form, with I believe that the function comes first. It is cool that some of you may not like the C7 (I personally don't find Porsche attractive, my friends say I'm crazy but at least I can back up my statements with facts). You sir, along with many other members are tool bags. Factual information is key when making statements and/or claims. Opinions are just opinions and have no real weight except to the eye of the beholder.

Thats the truth. The only thing that matters to me is what I think about the car. I always say what I have to say by 1st stating To me or in my opinion.

There is alot of negativity on here towards this car, and a lot of threads about the negative parts of the car. All the polls that people post there seems to be more people who have issues with the car then more people who absolutly love the car. Those are facts. Why is that do you think? Because we are all tool bags or what not? I have never called anyone on here a bad name or make fun of them because they post there opinion but yet when something negative is posted about the new Corvette we always get kicked in the face for it. Why? You could just say I dont think the car looks anything like a Ferrari or I dont think the rear resembles a Camaro at all. Instead you bash us for not liking a work of art! The C7 is a work of art and people will see what they see in it. That to is also a fact.

So, to use fewer words, you're saying that it's going to look dated, just like the last Stingray does today.

I like the front and side of the c7, I dont like the back, its too busy with that segmented bumper. I really want to see what the z06/zr1 looks like, but for now I'm keeping my c6z with no desire to upgrade to the car that was just shown to the public.
