What are your thoughts on the C7 interior?
The new C7 looks like a remodeled C4 interior and I like it. But on their Youtube videos they said that they did not want to use old designs and they wanted to stay away from a retro look. I also would like to know how the competition seats would feel after a long cruise.

When I saw it, I thought the same thing. When Chevrolet did the redesign of the C4 interior in 1990, the trade press gave them a hard time. They said the interior was claustrophobic for the driver because it walled the driver off from the passenger. (I have a 1990 and never feel that way but that is what the magazines said back then).
GM wanted to give the look of an F-16 cockpit (for the C4) and when the unveiling happened and I saw the C7 interior I thought a couple things. First, like I said, I thought "That looks like my car's interior." Then I thought the red trim is an assault to the optic nerves. I looked at the seats and when I saw the cutouts at the top, I thought "Those are supposed to evoke the Stingray shape." Ditto for the steering wheel.
I like the interior because, minus the horrible color combination and the whiz-bang LCD displays, it isn't very far at all from my 1990 C4 interior.
For GM to say that it isn't retro however must mean that the designers have never looked at their old design files or even one of the Coffee Table books on Corvettes. Of course the interior is retro. Intended or not, it's a derivation of the 1990 C4 design and it didn't stray all that far from the original except for the electronics and the use of Carbon Fiber trimout.

I think it's the best interior to come from GM in a long time. My only worry is how quickly the LCD gauges may begin to look dated... just look at the C4 speedometer these days.
I don't think the driver will feel walled off from the passenger at all. The extra distance/center console has a high-end sports car feel this way, and as someone who has owned a small sports car, I won't have to worry about hitting my passenger's knee in 5th/6th gear and reverse.

This more than any other aspect of the car I have to see in person to make a real decision. At first glance, while I am sure the materials, seats, etc., are vastly improved, my eye is caught negatively by the bump in the middle of the steering wheel and the digital display where the analog speedo should be. Also the way its all presented just doesn't look right to me. However, as said, I am much less confident in my negative thoughts on this aspect of the car versus the rear-end. I really need to sit in it.

From what I have seen it looks real good. Just saw the video of the secret door that opens up electronically and holds your valuables. Now that is cool!

You're right on the c4 similar interior, but if you look closely, the c7 interior resembles the Audi R8 interior. But with bigger screen better technology and even better materiels! than the 100k R8.

I was kind of hoping for a little more something! it looks better than what we have now, but i really wanted to be blown away. I think the car is by far the best looking vette ever! I want the new model so bad,but my 05 is so clean and i only have 19,000 miles on it.I would be lucky to get $25,000 for it and then would have to shell out another 35 grand to get the C7. Maybe in a few years who knows! I will be first in line to drive it when it gets on the lot.I might just test drive it every weekend for a while so it gets to know me!
