It's going to priced out too high also. This new car will come in at $10K higher than the current model and the more I see it the more it looks like a sharper C6. I think GM may have shot itself in the foot on this one. Who knows!

This is funny. The money went to charity, who cares if it didn't. But it's great that it did. Who cares who bought it? It's great that a car guy, a corvette guy did. He made his money legally, doesn't matter if he earned it or inherited it. Business owner, lotto winner, actor, musician, athlete, executive, blue collar, rapper, etc. doesn't matter. Who are we to judge how people spend the money that they earned?

The story was more about Corvettes, than is was about the C7..why no shots of them driving around in the C7?...I was expecting more

sheeesh why dont they just rename the auction to the Barrett-Jackson-Hendrick Auction? Every time I turn it on who do I see? Get tired of seeing him throwing huge money around there like its nothing.... he purposefully will squash any lesser guy who might really want something he's worked his whole life for. Hendrick just adds vehicles to his already insane collection for the sake of doing it. I know that the $1.1M C7 money is going to charity which is good.Rant off.

I think the $1M+ sale price says something about the collectibility of the car, but it was not the only million dollar sale. THAT speaks about how little our currency is worth. When it takes a wheel barrow full of cash to buy a car that was made on an assembly line by people who were probably smoking pot, there's something wrong. Sorry, off the subject.
The truth is that $4.2 million for the Batmobile and some of these other obscene numbers is a lot more attributable to how much Viagra is being done than pot.

The reporter shown this morning was the first person outside of GM to SIT i nthe car. Matt Lauer was supposedly the first person outside of GM to DRIVE the car. likely the cbs piece was filmed first.
Regardless of what one feels about rick hendrick, its his money to do with as he pleases. In this case, its a charity donation that comes with a novelty of a 70k corvette in return. Whats soo horrible about that? The guy who worked his whole life to get a new corvette can still get one. I gotta think the million dollar charity valuation helps with brand awareness for those outside of the corvette clubs of america.

Well this "Old Rich Man" spent 1.05 Million Dollars to get Vin#001 of the latest Stingray(proceeds went to charity). This man knows the history of the corvette better than most and has one of the greatest corvette collections in the world. He also purchased a late 60's racing corvette of significance for over 1 Million and of few other trinkets for his collection.
Sound to me like your just mad because you're not the "Old Rich Man". The way I see it he promotes the brand, he own Chevrolet dealerships and is an excellent ambassador for the corvette. He has donated to the Corvette Museums 1 Acre club to support the building of the track they are working on and with his money he definitely can afford any car he wants but he chooses the corvette. I tip my hat off to him, sorry to disagree with your opinion.

Hendrick has been around American motorsport racing and Corvettes a long time and he's not afraid of spending some money on his collection which in turn helps charity.

Mr Hendrick does not need little ole me to defend him. But your statement is wayyyy off base. His passion is cars!!! Corvettes!!! Nascar! He has given millions(and his time) to childerns charities here in the Carolinas and all over the U.S. Im just a regular guy, on two occasions that i have met Mr Hendrick, he went out of his way answering questions i had after i bought my Z from one of his dealerships. Ok, i know that may bring snickers, but this was on sunday after church, Mr hendricks travels so much with his race teams that im sure he cherishes the few sundays he can get at Home. I am just blown away how much nastiness has risen over the C7. I began reading more over here in the C7 FORUM to get away from Blown Motor threads over and over again. And now its the Hate the C7 Fan club. Unreal. You haters will be eating heavy doses of crow when this new C7 is a home run in sales for GM. BTW, IM keeping my #56 katech C6Z06 because i think she is killer looking from any angle!!! But im happy for the Corvette and the new world opening up for new buyers it needs to survive. Ill say it again, if the C7 went down in flames, it would kill the VALUE of all our corvettes overnight !!!!!!!
