Default Variable tuned exhaust

Any one care to speculate on the gain in hp/torque numbers ?

Without the optional exhaust it'll likely be 450 hp, and with probably 456 hp.

lol I hope its more, but I don't think it will be. The poster who claimed to be a laid off marketing staff member stated 456 hp. He was right on everything else, so I kinda believe him, ex. he said there would be no more round tail-lights, he said the car will look great and not really resemble any previous Corvette, and that of all the renders the Car and Driver latest one (at the time) was closest, which also turned out to be true.

The Z51 option package and magnetic ride control is going to be expensive. They will need to be purchased to have all the car's handling select ability. I really want the ability to change the cars control feel. Should be really neat! I might have to delete performance exhaust and other trim options to keep MSRP within reason. We will see.

GM hasn't finished fine tuning the motor. After they do, it goes to Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for certification. At that point we will know how much HP and TQ the LT1 has, both with and without the performance exhaust.

In the meantime, we speculate, and while fun, we do not know the actual amounts of either TQ, nor HP, nor do we know how much extra power the perf exhaust will produce

With the LT1 superior tuning ability and 2 3/4 inch exhaust tubing, I think 10hp is possible.

The big question in mho will be : Is the hp/torque gain going to be worth the cost of the system and, will the gain be across the entire power band. Unlike that of the NPP which I have on the '11 and quite frankly think it sucks swamp water.

The variable tuned exhaust is on my list of desired options, but honestly, if it's only a few hp it very likely isn't going to be worth it. It would be nice if GM gives us some hp ratings (with and without VTPE).

Horsepower aside doesn't the exhaust upgrade give a meaner exhaust sound? That would be enough to sell me.

HP/TQ increase won't be anything meaningful.

Get it for the sound.

Where did you get that? Tadge said a minimum of 450.
It will be higher. Engine hasn't been certified yet.

Like others, I would not get it if it's only a few horsepower difference. I LOVE the Corsa sound too much and think it would be a waste of my money unless......it happens to sound like the C6's with Corsa.

Yup and 450-456 = a minimum of 450

GM officials have said all of "estimated" 450 hp, "at least" 450 hp, and simply "450 hp."

I hope its more, and think it's plausible to be 460-470, but my instinct just tells me it will be 450/456, largely based on what the former GM employee and CF poster stated earlier.

If they did a good job designing the base mufflers for low restriction, then there would be no change in horsepower, just as their is not a change for the Camaro SS. It's a variable sound control.
