I figured out the C7 rear end look
OK, I must be a bit slow but I finally noticed why the styling of the C7 rear end looks the way it does.......
It's JAKE!
No doubt to me that the styling cues were from that mascot/logo. Now I'm starting to like the rear tail lights.
Edit:

Just how much have you been drinking to not see it?
I "was" totally sober when I saw it.
I'm sure the Corvette designers are applauding me right now as being the first person on the entire planet to see it.
I deserve a new C7 as a prize.

In that case, I saw it from the git go. I just thought it was so obvious, I didn't mention it! (GM, I'll take a black Z-51, GT seats, Chrome wheels, and CF roof panel. Napa leather if you can, but I won't complain otherwise)

I see what you're saying about the resemblance to Jake. The similarity is possible to see.
However, my guess is that this similarity is coincidental and that GM was not attempting to carve a facial image into the rear of the car.
I believe that the C7 tail, with its arched tail-light assemblies and its downward-thrusted sides, is meant to evoke the shape of a sting ray. A photo for example.
