Sure...but I'd buy one without the option too!

I have little interest in the existing retractable hardtops I've seen because most take up way too much trunk space.

Agree on both counts - I'm a convertible convert: of the eight Corvettes I have owned, two c6's, including my current '13 60th, have been 'verts. I have no desire for a fixed hardtop option for my C7, and I agree that a folding hardtop would probably take up too much space.

Also, I can't imagine the expense GM would incur crash-testing such an option in this day and age.

Last time I took my car to the track they made me park it when I ran 11's. does the removable hard top count like a not being a convertible?

I was thinking about this today when I saw a nice slk55 driving in the parking lot. But the targa top is my choice because for me its good enough over the reduced trunk space , price and being heavier. I was at the Chevy dealership last week and they had a triple black gs with black wheels and it looked badass. I'm not usually a fan of the soft top convertibles especially for the base c6 but the widened body made the gs look so much better.
I will think that the corvette will eventually get a hard top convertible and I welcome it, just not for me.

No. Soft top is just fine.

Never really saw the reasoning for buying a convertible, then paying extra for a hard top? It would be a complete waste of money for me.

It depends on the track. Etown will let you run with a hard top on a vert in the 11's. That is what I did with my C5
