I think the roof needs to be all black or all carbon fiber. It looks kinda stupid the very top is carbon fiber and the rear around the window is painted red. I don't know why GM did it that way. They should have made the whole thing carbon fiber.

When I get mine I'll probably have it painted black or wait for an aftermarket to make a carbon fiber version. Or just wrap them in a matte black wrap

All C7 lift off roofs are carbon fiber... Except the see through..

They are either painted or

Polished carbon fiber and painted edges.

I think you need to paint the A pillars body color for the colored top to look aesthetic.

Looks pieced together as it is from the factory with the black A pillars.

You can get the body color roof (I believe it is standard). The visible carbon-fiber roof is an option on 2LT and 3LT. So the question is - which of these is better or worse (I prefer the way GM did it):

I don't have a preference...it all depends on the look you are trying to achieve and what color the rest of the car is.

OK, I kinda like this one...

That is interesting .. I listened to all the videos that GM did and one of the things they discussed was painting the A pillars. One reason they did not was it does not look good ( in their opinion) without the roof panel in.

Second the designers liked the look of glass wrapping around from side to side. A visual look. At least if you buy the car paint is easy and you can do that. Maybe you want to paint the vents body colored too.

I'm still in my market research , proof -of-concept stage but I think [ not yet certain] that the brighter colors would benefit from the black out halo, while the darker colors would be best left the way GM has delivered them with the exposed carbon fiber roof and painted side panel. I'm in at this juncture for a Cybergray Z51 LT3/3LT.

Bottom line: in either case the back end will need to be painted body color. This annoys me as I see it as an unwarranted expense. So I'm debating why not go for the full BOH treatment , gonna paint it anyhow.

I still need more samples to per this hypothesis test.

I know I need to do something to this car to get it into a hollistic happy place for me. But I'm all over the spectrum trying to figure out exactly what that is?

I have to admit I would like to see all the vents and diffuser have a body-color option. They are pretty loud as black on lighter colors.

Thanks for adding color to the roof. I have been trying to picture that in my mind and it is nice to see it. I like the roof better with color vs. the carbon fiber look.

GM, is years behind in blacking things out. I do like the vents black, but thats about it. I also think the front windshield pillars should be the body color

I'd probably do a stinger like stripe from the vent on the hood to the windshield to compliment teh black roof, but I do like where that design is going..

With GM's carbon-fiber-with-painted-sides roof, the A-pillars should be body color and the center section of the roof "halo" should be carbon-fiber.

I dislike the way they have it, it's not coherent.

I expect body-color vents will be offered as GM Accessories in short order (because if they don't do it, somebody else will). I suspect a carbon-fiber halo will be a pricey aftermarket piece that few C7 owners will be willing to pay for.

If I buy a C7, it won't be with that weird striped carbon-fiber roof or dark-painted vents. I might just live with the ugly tacked-on Z51 spoiler, though.

IDK, that purple you like with black vents (flat black maybe!) might have a great vibe!

I like the way the detroit show car looked. Whatever top that is. That would be my preferred meathod if it were not too expensive. Otherwise I would get the body colored roof.

Definitely not all black. I would for the first time not get the glass roof because of it.

I like the body color roof, carbon fiber is great, but I don't need to see the threads. I'd rather paint over it on the inside too, or have an aluminum part instead.
