Performance : MPG ratio. Does any other car come close?
So the new vette is rumored to do 0-60 in 4 secs (I'm rounding up, deal with it) and gets 27-30mpg highway.
Does anything even come close in this price range (let's say $50k) AND has an interior at least as good as the new vette?
The closest thing that I can think of is the new AMG A45. 360hp AWD 4-cylinder hatch. It's supposed to do 0-60 in 4.5 secs and should get 35mpg highway. I understand that it's slower, but what else can come closer and keeps MPG, performance, luxury'ish, and price on par?
The 360hp Audi TT-RS, RS3, and S4 are all out because they have similar performance as the AMG A45 but their MPG rating can't touch the vette!

Don't forget: there's much more to performance than how quickly it can get to XYZ speed. AFAIK, no cars south of 100k can match the Vette's power AND agility. Don't even get me started on its friendliness as a DD...

I get what you're saying. To keep this comparison simple (or possible), let's just look at 0-60 times for performance.

The new BMW M3 that is coming out is rumored to be a 440hp 6-cylinder engine. Methinks that this should give 0-60 times in the mid 4's and highway MPG in the high 20's BUT this car will easily be $10-15k more than a base vette. Verdict: Unsure yet.

Ok, I came up with another car that comes even closer than the AMG A45.
The new Tesla S, it's $52k and does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.
Cons: 1) Charging an electric car is a pain in the ***. 2) It's probably not very "connected" to the road, but who knows.
Verdict: Neutral

I don't think BMW has the same CAFE issues that domestic car manfacturers are facing. Gas Guzzler taxes are the norm for high performance BMW's and Mercedes. The fact that GM has been able to avoid them (to date) with the Corvettes is nothing short of amazing given their performance.

I've always said it...a 190mph, low 12/high 11 second at almost 120mph 1/4 mile, excellent handling/braking/ride comfort/interior/cargo space, nearly 30mpg highway sports car all for under $50k...nothing even comes close.
And to think that the base C7 might even exceed all of that (except for the price).

Boss 302
4 sec 0-60
Very capable track car
26 mpg rated (just like a vette or any other car...much easier to hit higher than the EPA estimate)
~15k less than a C7 vette (42k vs my estimate of 57k for the C7)
Boxster S
low-mid 4 0-60 (PDK trans around 4.2 i think)
28mpg
similar price to C7
Personally my other car is the 392 SRT8 Charger
Low 4 0-60
~50k MSRP
Feels better in turns in sport mode than my base C6 did before swaybars and shocks. Feels good for it's weight
Observed hwy Mileage of 27mpg
Once the new charger gets the 8 speed trans it'll kill in MPG.

I said with the PDK transmission it is around 4.2 0-60. What you listed is with the manual transmission.

Yes, basically every car in the performance category with the C7. Why? Because a few mpg does not really matter when you average in the low 20s. Economy cars in Europe net twice as many MPG so in the grand scheme of things the fuel efficiency gains of the Corvette don't really matter much.
