C7 Z06, which 427?
Guys, I've read the rumors that the C7 Z06 will have a 427 engine. My question is, is this 427 going to be based on LS architecture (current 427) or will it be based on LT new architecture?
If not 427 for Z06, then what will it be?

Could be the rumored 5.5L C7R inspired FI motor.

I don't even know if GM is 100% in agreement with what will power the next high performance model, and you notice I did not call it a Z06 or ZR1, because that too is an unknown.
Lets concentrate on the C7 we know we will be getting and see what HP it actually produces and what the performance numbers turn out to be.

Won't be a 427. Lots of cubic inches are to old school for the C7.
Multi stage turbocharging has gotten so good in recent years that the powerband is as linear as a normally aspirated engine, making for a good track motor.
I'm putting my money on turbos!

I hope it will be the "Side Oiler" 427 by Ford from the 60's era.

Turbo would be great but they still need to have a bad boy NA motor.

Whatever it will be, it won't be LS based.

I am betting on a 454 or 427 LT5 as I have said before, maybe even a FI or TT 327
Probably a NA motor with twin screw possible, turbo......probably not

Amongst dedicated track drivers and those in charge of manufacturing the cars they drive there is consensus that nothing is as pure and exhilarating as a high revving naturally aspirated motor.
A lot of this has to do with the characteristics of forced induction that were behind the development of copilot nannies that apply brakes to chosen wheels when too much power comes on exiting a corner.
The forced induction makes up for the lack of displacement but without an F I system a typical cam in block motor needs to displace more to remain competitive with cars that have power adder systems.
The perfect solution for the Corvette's "purists edition" is to continue along with “427” magic that dominated other motors while it was under the L 88 nameplate.

The L88 signifies power, so it could be used with any high performance engine configuration.
