We caught that as well, when he said 7,000 RPM in fourth gear my friend and I turned and looked at each other.

Too expensive for the payoff. The Vette is more for everyman. The Ford GT was an American exotic. It seems so easy to put the engine in the back but it's a pain in almost everything you do, including servicing and support. The cost increase would cripple the program and turn off your typical buyer. They don't make Ford GT's anymore for no reason...

Today someone posted the first pics I've seen of it in straight silver, like some of the pictures of prototypes above. I thought it looked great.

When you can make a car in straight silver look exciting, your know you've done a good job.

Thanks, one last question is the 7sp manual the better choice than the auto for the track?

Thanks for all your hard work at the Bash, I have been following as many of your posts as possible.

I have been at the Bash all day trying to learn what I could. You have covered everything I have learned today, you may have already mentioned this and I am sorry if I missed it. I just don't want to start anymore threads, we talked to a Lead designer at the end of the day, and he did tell us there is a ZO6 coming and it should be released around the same time frame as the C6Z was to the C6. He also mentioned it would be a Wide Body. That is all we could get him to say and we tried our best.
Is this inline with any news you may have heard?
Thanks again.

Any details on lift or cD? I am really curious to hear whether they finally decided to just get the lift out of the car.
Thanks for all the updates, great information!

RC,

I'm a little late to the party here, but thanks for all your info in this thread and the others you've made. Lots of hard work. You should be an auto jounalist or blogger!

Drag is .29 we were told. Car is not making lift like c6...it makes downforce with no front plate in place. Z51 rear spoiler makes rear downforce to balance the car. With the plate it will lift but less than c6.

I've had incredible numbers of people tell me this actually. I'm a car builder, very strong enthusiast and have been in the business a good while. I can jump into pretty much any genre and talk shop. I've organized large car events, done auto shows, etc.

I actually have shot a lot of feature length films as well, when I had a video production company. I've been considering some things lately...

they are stacked in this early photo.

Notice another photo of the square tips thats posted. They wanted those, but weight, cost and difficulty getting consistent even fitment made it get scrapped.

I got confirmation of the higher performance model, but not of a widebody. Indirectly though, understanding that I was told the c7 cant comfortably fit a much wider tire, and michelin guys confirming the next tire is over 300mm...I put 2 and 2 together.

The GM guys did a fine job on the C7 styling. Hopefully it will perform as good as it looks!

RC,
I've learned more about the C7 from your posts over the last couple days than I have learned collectively from both this forum and GM.

Thank you VERY much for taking the time to document the wealth of information and thank you especially for sharing it here with us! Your posts have been great and your efforts are by far some of the best contributions regarding C7 information that any member has shared on the C7 forum!

Thank you again!

RC,

Did GM give a reason they went with a dual mass flywheel?

I love this stuff!!

I hope a book is published which chronicles this car's design process - just like we saw with the 5th and 6th gen models..

That is very interesting. The SAE paper on the Gen V SBC shows a dyno chart that goes to ~7200 rpm, but since multiple sources said 6600, it didn't make sense.
