I hope GM is listening. The 427 Vert was a success and there is NO reason GM should not introduce a Z06 C7 next year in a hard-top only model. Go ahead and stick the more powerful C7 Z06 parts in a Vert right off the bat and put it on the market right after the hard top is released. My next Vette HAS to be a Vert and I would like to have 2 Z06s in the family.
GM got your on?

Wait, don't you remember, the "Corvette Team" told us the C6 Convertible couldn't "handle" a 427 and they never lie to us, right ???
YaY! Corvette Team and the C7 Forum !!!!!! Grab your pom-poms.

I promised my wife our next Vette would be a Vert, but I want the power. Do believe next Z06 will be normally aspirated, so a Vert is what I want. No supercharged/turbo charged...If so, then a Stingray Vert it is.

That said, I would suspect that the new aluminum frame structure was designed to handle it all for the C7 gen.
I also suspect that the new auto tranny can handle it all too!

OIC. Hey, you started it!
Ultimately, what GM learned is open to interpretation. Maybe they learned to wait till you really need a sales boost at the very end of the generation. Or maybe they learned how to get rid of a bunch of LS7's they couldn't get rid of by selling them the only way people seemed to want to buy them. I don't know...
I hope the OP knows that I fully agree with his point and yet the vastly improved hi-po vert seems just a little more pointless without track-approved anti-roll capabilities.

Then, I told them all Lingenfelter was making more than 700hp with no problems in C5 convertibles, so I knew what they were saying that wasn't true and was probably an effort to sell more cars and not canabalize sales.
So, don't YOU tell ME what was said to MY face.

Its funny they tell you they have to "weaken" the frame rails because they were too strong when they first started doing the extruded rails. Right hand doesnt know what the left is doing.

How did all the 427 corvette buyers get past the ongoing rumor the 427 engines valves etc?

Y'know, this could be a similar situation I used to have with my kids. Sometimes it was just a hell of a lot easier to tell them a fib to get rid of them when they wouldn't STFU.

You look pretty cute all dressed up. Who's the other fruit cake with you?

I'm not willing to to that.
Same reason I don't have a facebook or use my name on here.
What I posted is true, whether you believe it or not.

True or not, it's more than 6 years ago and maybe you should get over it...like the absence of AWD and DCT. Move on. Deal with it. Just breath.

"In honor of jpee"
I do recall many parents just saying something made up to get rid of pesky kids. Hmmmm, might work here....might already have been at work in the past. Government calls it disinformation. Parents call it...oh well, this is a family site. I got some on ignore so have no idea what is being said; just out of the blue stuff.

I talked to Dave Hill and 2 other corvette engineers at the ZO6 unveiling. They told me this to MY face.
Then, I told them all Lingenfelter was making more than 700hp with no problems in C5 convertibles, so I knew what they were saying that wasn't true and was probably an effort to sell more cars and not canabalize sales.

Why would you ask that in 2005 at the Z06 intro? That makes no sense.
If that's the question you asked, then I will have to take your word for it.
I seem to recall a video years ago where Dave was asked if they would make a ZO6 convertible and he replied NO for the reason I listed (aluminum frame).

PS. For the sake of your standing on this forum, let's say Dave Hill DID tell you that they would NOT put a 427 in a STEEL frame convertible, Dave Hill was LONG GONE when the 427 Convertible happened, he had absolutely NOTHING to do with that car.
