One thing about the curb weight versus dry weight is that it appears that curb weight seems to be based on more gas in the tank than in previous measurements for the C6. I read in a forum somewhere that that GM establishes the curb weight for a vehicle based on 2 gallons of gas in the tank. For the C7 I calculated:
With half a tank of gas I weighed it at 3,070.
Gas weighs approx 6.5Lbs/Gal.
Full tank = 18.2 * 6.5 = 118.3
Half tank = 118.3/2 = ~59
Curb weight minus half tank = 3118 - 59 = 3,059
Close enough. I'm 99.9% sure that GM's curb weights include a full tank of gas.

Wow everyone, talk about some really awesome findings. Had no idea Z51 wheels were the same weight as base wheels do to forged process! This really helps narrow the gap in weight from base to Z51.
When I take my car to the drag strip I always run on about 2 gallons of gas, so it's good to know what the car will weigh in racing conditions. AWESOME stuff!
OK who has something else????

I don't believe this is correct. GM stated the curb weight of my C5Z was 3,118.

For all the criticism that GM has received here over the C7's weight, people don't take into consideration how government regulations has contributed to weight gain. There is virtually no consumer demand for AFM/cylinder deactivation for the C7 but it has to provide these features to help GM comply with CAFE standards. According to the presentation, AFM helped to contribute a 35.2 lb weight gain for the engine. The AFM exhaust valves contributed another 5.5 lbs. The transition from an aluminum torque tube to steel was largely due to vibration issues encountered when running in 4 cylinder mode. This added 15.4 lbs. and extra structural members to comply with Federal crash standards contributed another 18.5 lbs of weight. I think all together, regulatory compliance contributed to 51 lbs of added weight to the C7.

That's a good question, if you did opt into Mag ride, how much more do the shocks weigh than the base shocks? I couldn't imaging it being that much more?

One likely reason magazine test cars weigh more is because they are normaly loaded. The curb weights I have seen all use the 1LT base, and the additional weight figures for options is nowhere to be found.

If you add the weight of the larger forged wheels and the lower profile tires combined, the Z51 tire/wheel combo could be lighter than the standard. The tires are about the same outside diameter from what I have heard. So if the wheels are about the same, and the tires are lighter? I bet it's real close anyway.

I doubt it. The brakes on my Z06 are larger (14" diameter) than the brakes on the Z51(13.6" diameter), and they fit inside the 18" front wheels used on the Z06.

"The Z51 performance package will likely add about 150-200 pounds, according to GM Authority. Per the pricing released last week, the Z51 package will also add $2,800 to the price of the car."

That seems a lot for the Z51.
Differential cooler 7 pounds
Trans cooler slightly different location 1 pound
E-Diff 15 pounds
Larger wheels and tires 20 pounds
Spoiler 10 pounds
Dry Sump 30 pounds
Rear anti-roll bar 20 pounds
Total 103 pounds
What did I miss?

The EDiff should weight more than 15lbs but you are correct on all other things. Another thing to note, they are beefing up all of the suspension so it will have more mass

3298lbs is with a full tank right?
My first mod is getting non run flats, so that will shave some weight without a doubt

Well that's a damn shame then... I wonder if a dealer would be willing to swap out the smaller wheels for me for no extra cost if I get the Z51. (In theory, I might be able to sell the larger wheels for as much or more than the smaller wheels would cost me, but that's extra hassle, and in the 2nd hand market, I might not make as much).
