LT1 Minimum HP Acceptability Poll

I posted these numbers because they just sound right - but Sin City is correct, the only thing that matters is overall performance. What we all forget is that the LT1 will match the torque of an LS7 under 4K rpm. This means that for 90% of your daily driving, it's going to pull like a C6 Z06 - and we'll probably see some advantage of a lower 1st gear with the new 7-speed. This "base" Vette is going to be a beast.

450.
Really most people aren't capable of wringing the complete max out of a C6 GS as it is. (And if you think you are, unless your lap times are what Jim Mero's are. You aren't. Sorry)
Hell most people can't even wringing everything out of a C4, or C5 for that matter.
The C6R has 470 horsepower. 450 doesn't seem so ''lame'' now does it?

1st through 6th is no different from the obsolete C6.

"In honor of jpee"
Anything north of 450HP. That is the only real number we have and all anyone should be basing a buying decision on today IMO. Anything higher is gravy.
Having said that, I'm "hoping" for 460 to 470 but won't be upset if it doesn't get there because, IMO, it would be silly to be upset if they actually give us what they have already put on paper.

You presume too much. I voted 470-479 because that it is what it will take to be worth it to me to spend the $$$ to replace my C6. It's not just about "buying the car"; it's about whether the replacement cost to value result is worth it to the individual making the decision - not your opinion of what they should do.

Why would I drop the coin? Plus the widebody and big rubber looks better.

Voted 450 as that's what I've expected since I heard it from the horse's mouth when they released the estimated number at the car's unveiling last January.
I'll admit that the 475 rumors have me excited.
I'm unsure why some folks are looking at this poll and making it about what they'd demand before getting out of their C6's (although, as an aside, I think Tux explained himself very reasonably). There are lots of reasons to head into a C7 from a C6; if your only real criteria is insanely high horsepower, then your business is with a performance variant anyway.

I get to sit in my old crappy convertible...for a year or two.
Bottom line is some folks have the coin to get the newest and best and that is what they want. They might just be adding it to a collection...

My C5 convertible has 500hp so I want something that is going to have that level of performance. If it doesn't have that level of performance I don't really want to drop $70,000.00 on a new convertible.

And I am sad my GS does not have a Camera!

If it accelerates and performs on the road course as well as has been rumored .....whatever the hp numbers end up being will be cool.
