Default Tranny dual clutch or torque converter?

On the new C7, is the automatic option a slush box or a dual clutch?

And the title of your thread suggested an adult conversation. What happened?

Sadly the DC is not available, as it should be to provide drivers with a contemporary driving experience. Corporate decision, maybe done by committee. Having disliked the Auto Trans in my C6, I would not buy a C7 with auto. I would happily buy a C7 with stick.

I look forward to performance tests of the automatic c7 even though I'd buy the m7 with rev matching.

I look forward to instrumented tests and reviews of the 8 speed advancement as well

Good answer. Those that buy the C7 with a manual will not be sorry.

Who knows what 2015 will bring...

For 2014 it is the same old 6L80.

My sources say they may tried to peddle the 6L80 thru 2015 as well but only for the base car. DCT is a possiblity for the Z06/ZR1 variants for 2015 to keep it exclusive for a year.

I watched the Motor Trend video with the GM Chief Engineer for the LT1. He indicated the engine will have a lot more low (1K rpm) to mid range torque than previous engines and a lot more torque at those revs than a lot of competitors see at much higher rpms. With a broad flat torque curve the need for a DCT is reduced since the driver will not be shifting all that much anyways. Most C5s/C6s are just 3rd and 4th gear cars on the track already and if they reduce the need to shift even more the need for a DCT drops as well.

I ride in GT3s and M3s all the time as an instructor. The drivers are changing gears all the time. Then I take them for a ride and I am cooking along faster than they were going with barely a shift. I break the track down into two sections: The one I run in 3rd and the section I run in 4th. That amazes them since they are shifting all through both sections.

Bill
