Any idea whether that stripe is a decal or painted Carbon Flash black like the rest of the parts?

Unfortunately, with all the noted and welcomed interior improvements in the C7, they did not address , IMO, one the most glaringly el cheapo areas of the C5/C6 : the wide flat featureless swath of " commercial work van " - looking ABS plastic around and on the HVAC/storage /cup holder lids/console . That area is one of the first surfaces that any casual looker turns their eye to first time they look inside to " check out the interior " of any car .
( It is where , 16 years ago, I plastered an aftermarket stick-on C5 carbon fiber kit , which helped a bit to reduce the " Designed by Tupperware " feel. )

The $995 Carbon option stops before that area - it should have extended down though the entire center console (and for balance , around the window controls on the doors too , where more ABS plastic sits ) . I think many here would gladly pay $1295 for the full kit, than $995 for just the area surrounding the gauge cluster , which would represent a better perceived value and visual enhancement for that option.

Hope GM notes this and alters the option in the second year .

Weird. The car has too many black spots sprinkled all over it so the make a bigger one on the hood.

Good point - I like the way it sits in the photo. I could really see your point with that as an issue if you had the carbon flash painted mirrors and spoiler on top of all of this.....and black wheels.

Yes, agreed and it almost looks as plain as the C6 interior. I think the carbon fiber, aluminum accents and alcantera are must have options. If the magazine rags get a C7 with a plain interior as this C7, it will be interesting to see what they will say.

can anyone confirm / debunk the stinger hood option. If it is confirmed what is the option code and price?

I think at this point it is a mystery. We may see more of them. It does help blend in the hood vents rather then having them have a stuck on look. Those black vents are like the prom queen getting a pimple just before the dance. IMO

Its been kinda seen before (the stripe that is) on a white car with split down center. Just can't figure out how to upload, but it's here somewhere.

Was the black stripe painted or was it a sticker. Just curious.

Everyone needs to keep in mind, you can order the base car for $51,000 and get a great looking car with a good interior. Or option it up from there. Some people will buy the base and add all the aftermarket custom stuff. Or rip it out and put in a cage to go racing. And thats fine, too.

I think it is great GM offers a car with no frills but allows you to check the boxes and get all the goodies if you want. Remember, not everyone can afford or want the $8005 3LZ package.

The car can be configured many different ways and thats what people deserve....a choice.

This car is so damn beautiful. I can't imagine how awesome the Z06 is gonna be. That interior is delicious.

excellent point. For 1k I don't see the value in what you get; which to me is a "starter kit." I would imagine for around that price or less we'll see a complete interior kit available very soon on the aftermarket. I am however, conscious that for some folks less is more and the GM offered CF dash will be just right. For those folks, the 1k might represent great value.

I think the white is a photoshop. Not sure if its a real option either. BUt i prefer the solid stinger style stripe.
