Yep...and they said the convertible would base at $65,000!
And then there was the September 2012 picture they ran of a Jet Stream Blue C6 photoshopped with the Transformer Corvette's front end which they proclaimed was the C7. My dog had better info on the C7 than Motor Trend did.

If I don't have word in the winter that the C7Z is on the way, I may be looking to either a C6ZR1 or a GTR. I need that C7Z in the worst way...and next summer/fall it better be here or my money goes elsewhere...

In terms of no ZR1 replacement, does anyone REALLY think GM is going to just hand over king of the hill status to the Viper without so much as a whimper? Won't happen. There will be a ZR1 (or whatever they call it) when the time for bringing it out is right to keep sales and enthusiasm high.

Actually, you might be surprised to learn that team Corvette really doesn't care what the SRT guys do with the Viper. That's not their target car. Really hasn't ever been.

SRT's production of 7 years of this viper won't match probably 1 year of the Corvette...GM doesn't worry much about SRT I don't think. They have a better car than the Viper...far more development dollars, much more refinement...you aren't losing many customers TO the Viper. I think a different demographic buys Vipers, for the most part. Much higher salary, younger, etc...

I think gm is grateful for the viper...
He'll without a worthy adversary who would the magazines pit the corvette up against?
Better for both I'm sure that these titans duke it out...

The Viper is a good car but it is clearly a copy of the Corvette. GM is certainly not concerned from a sales standpoint.

If you can decipher the graphs, it shows previous months as well, but the May numbers are in the dialog. Some Camaro guys are attributing the Mustang sales increases to the success of the GT500....not sure. If so, it appears high HP halo cars do make a difference. I hope GM is listening.

" But the indication is that GM expects sales success with the C7, so future variations of such a radical change will come a bit slower."
And yet you estimate that the c7 z will come 1-1.5 years roughly after the first c7 hits the streets?
Waitwut?

IMO, there are going to be many variants of the C7 in the future. Look at what they have done with the camaro. You have the 6 cyl LS, the 8 cyl SS, the 1LE, the ZL1 and now the Z/28. Why on earth would they not do at least the same with the mother ship? Now, it will be 4 years from the time the gen 5 camaro came out to the Z/28 hitting the streets so no telling how long we wait for the variations on the C7. I think the new GM has learned to produce more variations of a great thing and maybe fewer of each??

I bet we see a V6 C7 variant late in the run in order to get folks used to idea of a V6, which I wouldn't be surprised to see as the only engine available in the C8 given the CAFE ramp up.
