Platinum Supporting Dealership
Oh, and one more thing. The pre-sales at this point are probably close to double what they were this time in 2004! There may have been more enthusiasm for the C5 but that was when there were hardly any leaks and not much of an internet presence to share them on. Plus that was a March launch with only a few months of production where they made less than 10,000 cars so it seemed like it was much harder to get a car. However, that calmed down in 1998 when they went back to regular production.

Then I wonder why http://wallstcheatsheet.com/stocks/g...tml/?a=viewall
said this...."GM reps said interested buyers should contact local dealers to purchase one of the limited-edition Stingrays"
Does that remark by a GM rep sound like the car is intended to sit on a show room floor getting bruised by everyone that walks into a Chevrolet dealership(you know the ones...the fat momma's with the unruly kids that have to climb on everything, etc). Who produces a limited edition car with a unique VIN for the masses to play in for six months in order for the dealer to try and drum up sales?

You are missing the point. I was here when the C5 and C6 launched and we went months without regularly having a car on the showroom floor for people to look at. Some people don't want to order a car until they've had a chance to see it in person, sit in it, etc. This is actually a very cool thing GM is doing so that there are cars out there for people to see in the showrooms!

FWIW..lost in all the whining about this reveal was the fact that this car goes directly to dealers and you won't find it in the order book.
Watch the video at about 5:40.
