My delivery may include a sort of 'showing' for members of our local club when I actually take delivery as it will be the first one received by the dealer. There is an area where it could be roped off and no one would be allowed in it. The timing of things may be interesting, as my wife and I are going to Europe for two weeks, Sept. 3-17th for our 30th anniversary and depending when mine actually gets built/shipped it could arrive when I'm gone. My order is currently at 3000 (queued for production) so it will be among the first group(s) built. Depending on how long they hold cars for QC audit it could come when we're gone. As far as it just being 'on display' for the general public for a period of time, no.

If the dealer was a personal friend otherwise I d say no.
Even then...I'd give him a one day personal showing for all his potiential corvette contacts between 5 pm and 9 pm one evening with coffee and desert...etc...
I wouldn't do a week...I couldn't stand the anticipation..of getting the new car...you paid for it...you deserve it....and btw...I'd be at the open house corvette unveiling that evening my car was on display at the dealership.

Every couple-three weeks, I go to my local Dodge lot to check on whether the promised Stryker Red Viper has arrived. When I pull up in my C6, a sales rep appears within milliseconds to inquire as to how he may serve me. "Man, this thing is way too fast. It scares me. I want to trade it for a Dart." Really? "no, I'm here to look at the Vipers again."

Absolutely NOT... the only, and ONLY exception would be JerriVette's suggestion if you had a good friendship with the owner of the dealership. And then I would be there for the entire 4 hours personally. As someone already stated, cars at car shows (and showroom cars) get VERY heavily abused. All it takes is for one dolt, or one mommie's little precious to screw it up. And they walk away and you are holding the bag. No thank you.

1. The car will get damaged unless it is roped and locked
2. No unless 1. Is met and you get something out of it

C'mon guys....... This is a $70K car......
It's funny that this thread was even brought up because I was thinking to "offer" the dealership this same exact thing a couple of weeks ago!
My order is already submitted and will be one of the first delivered in the "Sports Car Capitol of the World"........... Orange County, CA.
I'm hoping to recoup my "Courtesy Delivery Fee" of $400!!
My only condition...... Car roped off & locked.

My company refurbishes and repairs interiors for quite a few dealers. One Cadillac store always puts cars in the annual Atlanta auto show. We have two or three days work after the show cleaning and repairing the damage. My favorites are the "blue jean" stains on the seatbacks. It won't clean off but just takes a five minute re-dye on a small area, and pays $100.

I say do whatever you think is best. No one knows the relationship between you and your dealer. Also there is the relationship between your dealer and your club. If he ropes it off I see no harm, but that is me.

What if some idiot accidently scratches your car?
When your car is out of your sight you have no idea what is happening to it no matter what they tell you.
Are they paying you?... They would be using your car to make $$$ and get sales.
No way i would leave my car sitting for public finger fu@#*ng.

Yep,.. i think the "Suitcase Editions" are kinda meant for floor / display models...
They are great looking cars (love the color LB) but they may be used for public displays. Lots of hands on those cars.

That. I was even so **** I had the dealer call as soon as the transporter arrived with my '05 C6 so I could view the actual mileage on the odometer as it was the first C6 delivered to Delaware back in 2004.
No additional mileage when delivered to me the next day after prep but no doubt just about everyone at the dealer got to sit in it that first night. At least in my dreams (nightmare) that happened
