Default An odd thing I noticed on the C7 today.......

Ok, so I saw the new C7 today and noticed the wheel wells have like a fuzzy velvet feel to them. I cant imagine how they would clean up once dirty. Do you suppose this is just on the pre production cars and will be different on the production cars?

My guess it helps sound deadening. As far as clean up, I doubt it will be much of a problem.

Other cars already have this kind of inner fender lining. I see no reason why the C7 won't.

My GT-R's and my wife's QX56 have the same liner in the rear wheel wells. No issues with it in my experience.

Here's a shot of the capless fuel filler for those who haven't seen it yet. No more button on the inside to open the fuel door, you just press on it and it pops open.

Hi Randy,

Nope. Not pre-production. New material that contributes greatly to sound deadening. Helps with "road noise" resonating in the wheel wells.

Honestly, it cleans up pretty well.

Do you have to have the fob, or can anyone open it?

Hi Paul,

I have to say I like it a lot and it does look damn nice in person. The interior is beautiful and although I know it's the same size, it did feel somewhat smaller to me but my wife thought it felt the same as the C6. I think maybe the height and width of the center counsel could have something to do with that. I also have to admit that I'm warming up to the rear end, it really does look nice in person.

There were so many people there I couldn't spend enough time in it and I really had a hard time taking it all in. I could definitely see owning one someday.

A beautiful machine....

After looking several times for the button to open it and not finding it, I just pushed on the door and it popped open. I didn't have the fob.

That doesn't sound good. So push the door and it opens. Push on the center and it opens too ??? That's not secure at all !!!

That seems odd. Maybe the car has to be unlocked. If it's locked, I bet (hope) that the fuel door won't open.

Thanks for the pic, BTW, I was wondering what the no-cap filler looked like.

I would think it would lock when the car was locked too.

My Infiniti locks when the car is locked OR when it is running. You can not add fuel to a running car. Unless of course you shut the car off, open the fuel door then start the car while the fuel door is open. But why do that?

Other Chevy vehicles have a push fuel cap that opens all the time (I have a Camaro and Suburban). I hope it locks but It would not surprise me if it does not.

You are leaving your finger prints for anyone to see. Including the FBI. Hope your record is clean. I think the paint can handle it.
