Default Any reviews out for the non Z51 cars???

Has anyone been given a base (non Z51) for reviews yet? I haven't seen any reviews on the non Z yet. Kinda interested in how the base suspension without f55 or the Z51 option performs.

You woulda seen it here if they had been reviewed. The only published reviews have been from the press intro at the proving grounds which were all Z51s.

Randy, there were actually non-Z51 cars present at the media day event that generated all the reviews you are seeing. Not that you would know it from the magazines. They were driven but seemingly overlooked for the September issues. I'd love to see some numbers but I'm not hopeful.

Thanks Paul,

Have you driven the base ones yet and if so, what do you think compared to the Z51 option?

Is it possible GM doesn't want to release separate figures for the non-Z51 because it accelerates faster than the Z51? And publishing that info would reduce Z51 and msrc sales. I'd be really curious to see how the non-Z51 1LT automatic gets from 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc

That would be funny imho. Common sense tells one that the testers are going to go for the car that is top dog in their collective minds. Eventually we will see a base model tested. Both A6 and M7

From what I have read, the standard Stingray is lighter and would possibly out accelerate the Z 51 model were it not for the different gearing in each of the manual transmissions, possibly to compensate the added weight of the Z 51 components.

They'll both be fast, but there are always faster cars out there.

If you race every bonehead that revs next to you, it's a no-win situation. If you don't shift cleanly through each gear, you may not beat them. On the other hand, if you do beat them by a car length they will say that their car is as fast as a Corvette anyway, and he'll say to anyone who will listen that he would have had you if you guys had raced a little further. Lastly, the cop is going to nab the guy with the nicer car, and that will always be you!

Randy,

I think that people are going to be really pleasantly surprised by the base car. It's awesome. Body roll is a little more noticeable, but improved over prior generations FE1. Acceleration puts a grin on your face with or without the optional gearing and the suspension gets the job done without being harsh. Brakes are fantastic.

God I can't wait for my car to be built, LOL and yes, I've ordered a non-Z51 car.

I ordered a base...my 3rd...it's awesome and it's a Corvette. Can't stand when people cut down a base or any Corvette for that matter.

I bet it's tough especially since you sold yours. Hearing you're going with the base suspension with all your knowledge and insight, it has to be pretty fantastic. I need to stop watching all the video reviews, it's making me itchy to get one...

Absolutely right!.

To each their own...including transmission, color combo, options etc.

Frankly, I've never seen so many on this Forum so inconsiderate of others personal choices and preferences for a vehicle we supposedly share a passion.

So much for the Great Brotherhood of Corvette Owners!

Comments like this really **** me off. There's a lot of guys eagerly awaiting their new $55K-$60K car, and you come up with a stupid comment meant only to make them feel bad about their purchase....or maybe allow you to puff your chest because you got the "cool" options. Pathetic...

My C6 is a base, non Z51, non F55 car and not once have I ever felt bad or embarrassed about my car. The most basic Corvette you can buy is more power and technology that most people will never come close to using it's potential. FWIW I run with guys who drive Grand Sports, ZR1's and Z06's and they have never made me feel any less because I have a base car. They are real Corvette owners......

Exactly right! We might be running with the same crew!
