C7 display at Carlisle

C7 display at Carlisle
I was at the Carlisle Corvette show yesterday. I went directly to the GM display to get my first look at the C7. Wow! What a fantastic car. They had a large display of coupes (no convertibles) in every color and trim level. The nice part was that you could actually sit in the car and check it out in detail. The GM Corvette team was there in force to answer questions.
Like many, I had doubts about some aspects of the design. But having seen it in person I was amazed at how well it all works from every angle, and yes that includes the tail lights. I had a hard time getting my wife out of the car.
Before going I had no intention of buying a C7 but I have to say I was blown away. Although I plan on keeping my C6, the plan is now for new 2LT velocity yellow coupe for the Mrs.
Here are a couple of cell phone pictures. You really have to see this car "live", pictures don't do it justice.

I just came home from Carlsle. I'm still deciding on color. I was thinking Night Race Blue or Cyber Gray however I was impressed with the Silver one with the Carcoal Black stripes, yes stripes, Heavens!! Now got to ponder Silver with stripes, black convertible top and black interior. It had the black mirrors and spoiler too. Was a great day.

Spent the day at Carlisle as well. I was all set to buy the 60th 427 and was waiting for the C7 to come out thinking the price of the C6 would drop. Now I have a problem. The C7 is so impressive in so many ways with a great interior 60% stiffer, 7 speed, all aluminum and $20k cheaper then the C6. It actually makes the C6 seem dated (my opinion).

What a profound statement! I'll have to think about that.

Here are a few more combo's that don't get much attention really looked good, this blue is outstanding in the full sun:
It had a black 2LT Interior, thought this could have been perked up with blue stitching like in later years of the C6:
Silver with stripes, black spoiler and mirrors and a Kalahari 2LT interior + chrome wheels were outstanding quallity:
Night Race with chrome Z51 wheels:
Look at the green in the sun, it glistened. It also had a brownstone interior:
I really liked this Red on 2LT Red. The red stitching is outstanding, really wish it was available on the all black interior with optional red stitching like in 2013:
My sleeper pick, White with Brownstone interior with chrome wheels, could not get near it all day because it was such a draw:

Never thought Silver. Can't believe the color choice is this hard. With the C6 it was Victory Red from the start, now can't decide. Another problem is the suspension, just found out today, the standard version outperforms my C6 with magnetic ride. Now since I don't max my current suspension do I want to spend $4,600 on the Z51 with magnetic ride. The standard suspension looks OK so looks is not a consideration. It is going to take all winter to decide and maybe several test drives? Well the black top and black interior is a definite.

The white car has the standard suspension and exhaust system. The smaller rear spoiler looks good and accents the rear quarter panels. I also like the smaller exhaust tips. Decisions, decisions!

If your talking a 427 convertible sticker in the 80's even with a discount you can buy a C7 with the Z51 and a few options for high 50's. probably close to 20K.
I was more impressed seeing it in person that all the pics a saw before.
Who knows down the road......

The new exhaust system is adjustable from quiet to very loud and many levels in between. I think aftermarket exhaust systems are going to have a very difficult time competing for C7 business, if they can at all.

That red on red looks pretty nice. I like that green. I would never order it but if anyone does, it looks like a terrific color.
I cannot get into that plastic ruler stuck on the back of non-Z51's calling itself a spoiler. Yah, that must do a who hell of a lot. They should have done nothing.
I'm still not sure carbon flash looks cool or looks cheap. It's pretty clear they are trying to get that carbon fibre sort of visual interest without actually making it carbon fibre. In some photos, it's not working.
