Default Bondurant Performance School - Going? Been? Thoughts?

So, if you've been already - where did you stay nearby and did you like it? (the hotel and the course)

If you're pondering, FYI great savings to be had if you're going to some big car gathering and Bondurant has paid to have a booth / display there. So, keep it in mind if you're going some distance to get a gawk at a C7.

We signed up at Reno's Hot August Nights and the discounts offered there for putting a $100 deposit down were 10% off a 1-day, 20% off a 2-day course. And if you were willing to pay in full on the spot for a 2-day course, save 30%. The 30% was too good of a chunk of change savings for us to pass up, so we paid in full.

They only set their schedules about 4 months out, but of you specify you're hoping on a specific day far into the future, I think they try hard to fix you up with it as they set the schedule.

We plan to do our class in Sept 2014, which is right around the time we hope to take delivery of a 2015. We want to know how to drive our new car to its fullest!

Cheers,

Suzy

A friend of mine went there and had nothing but good stuff to say about it. (Though I don't remember what he said, exactly! LOL)

I'm going to go to a few speed trials HPDE events and then if I'm digging it, I might go to Bondurant too.

I did the 1 day school for my 30th b-day. At the time it was '08 z51 cars.

It was an AMAZING time. The auto-x and high speed laps at the road track were un-forgettable. The skid car was fun, but being from the midwest I get to play skid car every winter if I want.

Doing a lead and follow with an instructor driving a v6 CTS was quite humbling those guys can drive.

The lead and follow is the thing that interests me the most. That's why we did the 2-day, just to get more of everything!

Davenport-- we have family there (actually Moline, but close enough). Such a small world! We visited in 2009. They're requred to come our way the next time. I loved trekking over to the Field of Dreams though.

Cheers,
Suzy

There is a nice resort/spa right close, Sheraton Wild Horse something or other, if you are looking for a nice place close by to stay.

Default 1 Day Course

I did the 1 day when they had c5 z06's and enjoyed the hole experience. If you do not go to a school you will be missing out on a lot of fun. It is well worth going and you will learn control of the cars.

very good time. i won a 4 day school and we ran it all in the vettes. if you are experienced, check on the different schools as you won't want to spend much time in the skid car or classroom... if not, you should do those things.

That's the plan! Thanks for the positive reinforcement though!

They're only budget hotels in the little town (Pahrump, NV). I'm going Sep 16-18, and staying at the Venetian. A little more than the credit, but worth it, especially if you take the missus. Oh, forgot to say GM rented ALL condos since August, so it was a Best Western or such, or Vegas. The choice was obvious for us . Otherwise we'd have taken a condo for sure; MUCH more convenient.

I've been wanting to plan a trip this fall to attend but I'm torn between Bondurant and Skip Barber.

Been to Bondurant a bunch of times. Stay at the Wild Horse. Take 3 or 4 day course first time you go. Very comprehensive and then sets you up to take advanced course or drive local events in the future (qualify for level 2 SCCA license).

buddy went, loved it, and now looking to buy a shifter kart, they did a half a day in those. another buddy going this month. really wish I could make that happen. I did a day at Skip that was a blast. nothing like beating the snot out of someone else's cars and learning how to drive fast. if you can afford it time and money wise def a must do.

I think one of the Casino's who owns the Firebird land did not renew the lease so not sure what the future holds for Bondurant.

OP...it depends what your goal is. Bondurant offers everything from single-day to four-day programs at a number of skill levels. There are a few casino-hotels within a mile of Bondurant that have restaurants within them so you don't have to travel to eat.

I have been to both Bondurant and Spring Mountain. You should take a serious look at Spring Mountain. Bondurant was very good; spring mountain was excellent.

Havent' been to Bondurant, but have done Spring Mountain.

They both get rave reviews, and anybody who has never received formal instruction can greatly benefit from the experience as can folks who have seen the track before. IMO worth doing multiple times.
