Default Test Drove My First C7

Test drove a C7 tonight. Stopped by a local dealer and they had two. The power steering was unbelievable! What an amazing car!! I have a 2012 Cenntenial Grand Sport and it was a huge improvement. Seems like most new products get great reviews but when you test/ buy them there no different than the old. Love the design but didn't believe the hype. Think I will wait a couple months and order one.

No different than the old???? Sounds like you're not ready to part with your 2012 and may be in a bit of denial. I haven't driven mine yet, but from all I've read and seen, I expect the C7 to be much different from the C6 I just sold.

The op was saying the C7 WAS up to all the hype. His comment was that most of the time the cars falls short but not this time. I like hearing comments from current C6 drivers. They have the right prospective.
$.02 worth.

It seems to me that he is saying he was skeptical, but that the test drive convinced him to order one in a couple of months.

That's the second comment I heard today on the steering. My salesman, Dave, and I were talking and he drove a C7 for the first time last week. They got one in last Saturday and the owner let Dave drive his. Dave's first comment to me was about the steering and the feel of the the steering wheel. Dave had a C6 until about a month ago and is the Corvette specialist at the dealership.

Which dealer in northeast Ohio has one to see, much less test-drive?

Haven't driven one yet either and look forward to the day I get that chance. Have say in a few and really like the feel of the car.

The c7 engineers said they improved the steering stiffness almost 600%....That's substantial, and it must make the c6 steering feel like it was broken....

600%! That is ridiculous. Thats like saying you turn the wheel distance of piece of hair and it makes a right turn.

Sounds exciting.

It is not the ratio of the steering that they're talking about. The car will not make a tight turn if you move the wheel slightly -- that would not work at all. They improved the stiffness of the steering by about 500%. In other words, the C7 has only about 20% of the "play" or "looseness" in the steering compared to the C6. The change seems to have paid dividends, because everyone is saying the steering feels very precise and has great feedback for an electric setup.

Default test drive

I believe the electric steering doesn't allow the steering to respond to the road conditions. My 2012 can pull the steering wheel around quit a bit on bad roads. They told me the electric steering changed ratios with the mode you select! Also, the rev match feature was pretty cool!

Default Test drive

If you could see the grin on my face 27 hours later you would believe me! It was the owners car. Sounded like they only had 8-9 sold of their 29 car allocation.

^ I'll believe it. Mike Lally is a big Corvette enthusiast. I was there one day when his 427 Convertible came in. I see no reason why he wouldn't let a potential customer test drive one of his cars.

Default The Corvette Purists.

On the C6 forum before it was known that the C7 was going to have electric steering I said GM should go to electric on the C7 for a number of reasons, as a matter of fact I said GM should of gone to it years ago and if I was running GM they would have. Maybe they listen but on here (C6) I was called an IDIOT! Go figure.
