NCM Delivery
I'd like to hear from folks that have done the NCM delivery vs dealer delivery. If you pay the $990 for museum delivery, do you still pay the $995 delivery fee to your dealer.
If you do pay both it would seem that there's some double dipping going on.
For NCM delivery, you should only have to pay the dealer for his time & expense of doing your paperwork and not shipping your car in from Bowling Green.
Anyone in the know about this?

Yes, you pay both. The car is actually shipped to the museum on a transporter.

I did the NCM delivery with my 2011 GS. Cost was less then, but the experience was well worth it - especially the prep done prior to delivery. That said, I am not sure it is worth almost $1000 now. What I have heard is the NCM doesn't keep the whole fee. It appears GM gets some of it. If true, why?

From what I understand, yes, you pay both fees if you take the Museum delivery. Seems like a lot, but the experience would be good.

There's been about ten threads on this subject, including some real shouting matches.
Yes, you pay both fees. It's always been like that. All cars, even those going across the street, pay the same shipping charge. It's the same for all auto manufacturers.
For the last 12 years or so, Museum Delivery has been a constant $490, but GM finally upped the price with the new generation. For your $990, you do get the best vehicle prep anywhere, factory correction of any faults found during the PDI process, unlimited instruction on the features of the car from people who really know it, a factory tour, and of course admission to the Museum. Some feel it's too pricey, but it seems like the first round of C7 deliveries at the museum all felt the experience was worth it.
For what it's worth, my convertible order includes Museum delivery.

It is absolutely NOT a union thing. The Federal law, passed a long time ago as a result of lobbying by car dealers, was to insure that dealerships closer to a manufacturing plant did not have a competitive advantage over dealerships located further away from a car plant.
