Well I downloaded the .pdf and read it - very interesting. The whole issue is devoted to the 911's 50th anniversary, but the Corvette pooped in the punch bowl. They tested a clapped out, pre-production Stingray with worn tires, but it was still faster than the brand new, full-zoot 911S with PDK by 2.1 seconds at Willow Springs. It was not even close on the track.
The Stingray won the comparo by 5 points, (although 20 were for price). The 911S was not really superior anywhere on the objective measures - it only scored points on the subjective parameters, but one subjective opinion that will really hurt Porsche fans is steering feel - the Stingray was rated as BETTER. Who would have predicted that ??
Altogether the Stingray is every bit as good as the Porsche on the road, and much better on the track. I don't think Chevy could have asked for any better reviews for this car - it really puts the Corvette in a new league.

Another mid 12 second 1/4 mile time. This is LS3 territory. Someone posted a 12.4 116 earlier today. Why aren't they faster? No disrespect intended, I genuinely want to know. The LT1 shows big hp and tq gains on the dyno. Higher curb weight + green engine + M7?

The curb weight quoted is 3460 LBS vs. 3297 for the 911 S.

I don't think they would have gotten all this positive media attention if the car would have had an 11 second quarter mile and a 3.5 second 0-60 time......but come up short to its competitors on road courses....

I agree those help in the 0-xxx runs. But I expected more trap speed and better 0-100 on the Corvette. I think they got a slow run on the C7. The 911 numbers are pretty consistent with most other test on the car. I don't buy that the C7 is that slow except in very poor conditions. A LS3 is quite a bit faster than their times in trap speed and 0-100.

Yes I realize there is more to a great sports car then 1/4 mile times, I am just curious about why recent tests don't even show it meeting GM's stated times.
