Default Up close and personal

A red Z51 auto showed up at my local dealership yesterday, already had a sold tag on the window, this is my 1st up close other than at the Detroit auto show. 1st impartial impressions are as follows;

PROS; very nice overall and has a high quality look, a lot of car for $57,000, interior was impressive for a 1lt, car looks A LOT better in person than in any pictures, overall I was impressed!

CONS; paint quality was poor at best, serious orange peel, there were c6's next to it and their paint was much better, looks like a 4x4 in ride height, kept looking for the 4 low/high button, (joking) still don't like the rear end.

Summary; I hope GM makes changes to the rear and improves paint quality, then they may have another new customer!

So enjoy whatever it is you currently drive, or buy something else, and have a nice day. IMHO the rear is not changing anytime soon and if the stock bolt adjustment for the suspension (detailed on many threads here) doesn't suit your taste then so be it. Regarding orange peel, meh, I've had 3 Corvettes and never considered it any sort of issue, but that's just me. If EVERYONE liked the C7 that would be scary, wouldn't it?

Removed unnecessary childish "boy racer" reference for ya.

They are functional air duct inlets/outlets with the exception of the hood vents which exhaust air from upper third of radiator primarily to disrupt air flow over the hood thus reducing "wing effect" and resultant lift. Based upon their racing experience in C6R.

I stated that overall I was IMPRESSED, there are several on this forum who still haven't seen a C7 up close so I was simply sharing my opinion with those folks, I've owned a 94 coupe, a 2000 coupe, and an 02 Z06, I will be in the market soon for another Corvette and am trying to decide which way I want to lean as I am sure many others are at this point.

So, which way are you leaning at this point?

Don't you know you can't voice your opinion on this forum unless you kiss *** of all the C7 fanboys. This is the most one way biased forum I've ever been on. And this is from people that don't even own the car to make a accurate description of what this car is all about.

I'm hoping the aftermarket provides the round hole people a kit to replace the tail lights so it looks like previous vettes.

That will leave the rest of us who are fine with, and in some cases, prefer, the square look.

As is the case in many things in life, some people simply don't like change.

Status Quo is boring, IMHO

Lol! Agreed, LOTS of pessimism and flaming on this forum, but I feel I can be very objective, I've loved Corvettes since my dad couldn't pry my hands off the steering wheel of his '65 convertible when I was 5 years old, but I can also see a Vette for it's good and bad points.

So someone addresses the negative aspects you perceive and you get your feelings hurt? REALLY?

At this point, if I had to decide today between a loaded out C7 and a used ZR1, I would go ZR1. (Bring on the slams!)

Look elsewhere for slams. Either one, IMHO, are GREAT cars. Be happy with your choice
