Got this idea from another forum member who's name I forget. It's the aero plate custom painted to match my cyber grey. 1 coat primer and 3 coats paint and 3 coats clearcoat. And I have a curved smoked plexiglass cover over it. I gotta say I think it actually looks kinda good. . .if u have to run a plate.

Since I have actually been pulled over for not having a front plate by a Texas State Trooper, I have my plate on the aero mount:

This is my daily driver and I drive roads patrolled by the DPS daily.

I did not like the look of the full aero panel, so I trimmed mine down to the size of the plate, which also opens up about 25% more area for air to get in around the plate....

There is a whole thread with other photos of front plates mounted.

I did get a ticket for no front plate on my 93 once. Fix it ticket.

I don't know about other states but here in CA when you take delivery of a new car they tape a small registration paper on the right inside window to show that it is registered and plates are ordered.

When I took delivery of my 03 C5 I never removed that paper and never ran a front plate. If a cop was coming at me, say from across an intersection, he could see the temp. reg. on window and not look a second time.

Worked for 11 years. I sold it two months ago. Just waiting for my 15 C7.

This is the new license plate bracket on a 2015. I guess you have to bend the plate to make it fit. No front tag in N.C.

you'd think by now that the transportation department of both our countries (provinces and states) would come up with a better solution to front identification for cars than having that big ol' wart tacked smack dab in the middle of a car's nose. One reason why I think governments really don't GAF about the people they serve.

If front plates were so bloody important, why don't motorcycles have them and why aren't they mandatory in every state or province? It's all BS if you ask me.

Amen. North Carolina has window tint police. Government, it follows the money.

The aero panel in the picture is the same as in 2014.
GM says it is not a license plate bracket, but it really is.

It requires the plate be slightly curved, but you can still easily read the plate.

Every Stingray I've seen in Houston so far has been plate less in the front.

Houston isn't as **** as other parts of TX because we have so many "out of towners" here.

Mine did! It was a $15 option for the flat one. I believe the curved one is standard. Luckily for me SC is a one plate state. So both the flat and curved ones are sitting in a box in my garage.

Answers for those having trouble with with the front plate bracket. Pics

I have seen a few post where people are having trouble figuring out the front plate brackets that come with the car. I installed mine last night without much trouble. I used the curved one, because its obviously the best looking one! I know some states have laws about minimum plate height. This one sits 11 inches at the bottom of the plate, off the ground. I dont think too many police officers are going to give anyone too much trouble about that. At least you made a good faith effort to put a plate on!!

First step is to pull the "Corvette" plate off the curved bracket. I know it says not to install the plate to the bracket, but just ignore that! (who reads warnings anyways??) Once removed, if you look closely, there are four small dimples in the bracket that will line up with the holes in the plate. I used a small drill bit to drill pilot holes in the bracket.

Next, install the two plastic fasteners and install the bracket on the car. The fasteners dont snug down, they tighten the bracket enough to hold and then they slip so you cant overtighten the bracket and break the grill.

I used 4 self tapping screws to mount the plate. I recommend 4 so that it holds all 4 corners from flaring out.

Hope this helps!!
Hi, could you tell me what size drill and size/length of the screws?

I also purchased the TOP FLIGHT REPO mount. Tho it is for sure the best thing on the market I took it off. It still ruins the lines of the front. I believe the violation is considered "equipment" and does not go on your record. Once I am pulled over I will put it back on.
