I had my C5 for six years and then my C6 for eight years (still have it) and have never run with a front plate in Virginia. I have had the lack of a front plate mentioned to me before by law enforcement...but never ticketed. (Knock on wood...)

That being said, the front plate on the C7 doesn't look nearly as bad as the C5 or C6 so I will probably put one on when I get a C7....just for peace of mind...

One question - I am thinking of installing my license plate over the "Corvette" cover. In looking at your plate, did you ever consider the way I am planning to install it? The reason I'm thinking of doing it is it seems to fill it out better verses the indentation you have on yours, I don't know yet for sure, but why have the Corvette plate in the first place if it wasn't meant to be used some way? Any thoughts anyone?

Now that the law has had its glitch fixed this year, Texas DPS will be out enforcing the front plate with renewed vigor. Yet they couldn't prevent the governor's mansion from being severely fire damaged several years ago due to an arsonist and the result was many millions of dollars to restore.

Is the "bent plate" frame now the standard GM factory C7 front plate holder rather than that thing in the later post that mounts higher on the fascia??

Needs a license plate frame to look even better. I'm still not a fan of that mount, waiting to see if anyone else comes up with a offset solution.

You dont need the part number, it comes with the car. Both mounts come with the car.

The biggest reason I didn't do it, is I didn't want to Drill thru it. There are no holes and it would of been hard to line up. Very good thought though, but I didn't want my plate laying on top of it, however, I would love to see someone who did this to see if it looks better.

I'm so glad we don't have to run a front plate either...

According to some of their officlals, Mercado ind is in the final stages of their removable license plate bracket for the C7 and it should be available to us in the next 30 days or so. According to them, It will look and function just as the C6 Zr1, Z06 and GS version. It will be made completely from carbon fiber and will sit lower than the GM version. I have one for my ZR 1 am completely happy with it. I put it on when I drive and take it off when at home or at shows. I personally like the way the bracket looks and the way it sits on the car.

Hello,

A picture of their new removable front license plate bracket for the C7 Stingray, from their facebook page. The positioning looks nice IMO.

I ended up trimming the plate with black door edge trim for a more finished look.

Not much to add to OP's tutorial, but I think the install looks better with a license plate frame added....Cruzer has a polycarbonate one that is flexible so no problem with the curve as seen below....

Actually, I had a similar plate on my C6 that was the same size as the plate and was less noticeable then the C7. But then again, I did not need to buy the C7 bracket. I think it looks okay. Thanks for the post.

Do we have a website for this. It reminds me of my C6.

the C6 plate bracket was from TopFlite Reproductions and is very similar in looks to the C7 bracket. The C6 plate was attached with double stick tape and was removable with 2 wing nuts. I had their bracket on all 4 of my C6 cars.
