Default Customer C7 Delivery Inspection Check List

I have been reminiscing about when I picked up my 2005 C6 Z51 and in so doing remembered things I missed because of my excitement. In reading through the various threads in this forum, there are some things that should be checked for, eg. proper closing of the hatch and proper fit of the hatch, etc. So as to decrease the chance of missing something, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread with a check list for us to use when taking delivery of our C7's. I did a search and did not see one, so I took a stab at it.
If people think it's worthwhile and will post their thoughts to add to it, I will edit this post to keep it current and then we could print it out to take with us at the time of delivery.
If Paul/Talon reads this, it would be greatly appreciated if you could write a post about how to do a quick check of the infotainment system for proper functioning.
I have placed asterisks where I did not know how to check something in the hope that someone knowledgeable in that particular area would elaborate. For example, in a car with a HUD, I have heard of a plain windshield being installed but I have no idea how to check for that.

If this is a big waste of time, I am sure y'all will let me know!!

Things to do before arriving at the dealership:

1. Collect all paperwork pertaining to the car’s purchase, including proof of insurance.
2. Have a list of all options ordered and carry it with you!
3. Have a list of items which were to be installed by the dealer and their cost.
4. Have a list of all items to be included in the purchase price and be sure you understand the figures involved and the agreed upon amount due at the time of delivery.
5. Carry smart phone and its’ USB cable, MP3 player, USB stick, SD card as appropriate to check proper operation of jacks. Carry tire pressure gauge and flashlight.

Before the test drive:

1. Do a quick underbody inspection looking for scraping on underside of front bumper and sides. Look for any leaks.
2. Check for all factory installed options (painted calipers, etc,) as well as dealer installed options (custom floor mats, etc.).
3. Inspect exterior for fit and finish. Check VIN.
Check paint for excessive orange peel, runs, scratches, touch ups and note location and severity of
defect(s).
Check that the seam gaps on body panels are uniform.
4. If Z51: are the air deflectors mounted on the front lower A-Arms and is rear spoiler present and properly installed?
5. Proper wheels installed and without scratches/scuffs. Tire pressure is correct.
6. Hub caps, badges, lettering present and aligned properly.
7. Hood, doors, gas filler door and hatch open and close properly with proper fit. Doors and gas filler door lock and unlock as intended. Sills are present.
8. Fluids correct and topped off (oil on Z51 should be checked with vehicle level, warmed up and engine off for 5 minutes). Serpentine belt and hoses are in good condition and secured appropriately.
9. All lights operational (DLR, headlights, turn signals and back up). Interior lighting including vanity mirrors.
10. Windshield wipers properly installed without nicks and rubber in new condition. All speeds are present including adjustable intermittent. Windshield washer functions.
11. Window glass clear without streaks or ripples. Power windows operate properly and "index" properly. Side view mirrors are without defects (appearance and functional).
12. Windshield and rear glass are without visual distortion.
13. HUD is functional and all modes are supported. *
14. Interior seams are straight and stitching is even and of proper color. Trim is unblemished and transitions (eg. dash to door) align properly.
15. Seats are as specified and emblems are present (LT2 & LT3).
16. Driver and passenger seat adjustments function properly (manual and power).
17. Steering wheel is "round" and all buttons/switches function properly while the wheel is turned. Horn works. Wheel stitching is well done and of proper color.

This is a great idea and a very good start at the list. Let's see what folks have to add, but once the lists stabilizes, I'd sort it in a chronological / systems order - for example there are static and rolling items at different parts of the list, we should bundle them together.

My quick adds:
- All paperwork / documentation received (owner's manual, window sticker, ...)
- check for all add-on options (e.g. Battery Protection, caliper color, ...)
- Quick underbody inspection. look for scraping on underside of front bumper.

Does anyone have a break-in procedure and checklist we can start?
E.g. at 200 miles check for abnormal tire wear (indicative of an alignment problem)

Great idea thanks for posting the list.
I have ordered and received 3 C6's and know how excited I was each time I picked up my Vette, I am sure my first C7 will be even more exciting.
This list will help me stay focused on my own personal delivery inspection.

Thank you for your specific recommendations and I will edit the list tonight.
As far as a break-in procedure and maintenance list, those are usually best done as excel spreadsheets. To be honest I am not very good at that, perhaps someone else will tackle that as I agree it would be very helpful. I will try my hand at it after this list settles down if no one else does.
Thanks again and thanks to all of you who took time to post feedback!

Default Does anyone have a break-in procedure and checklist we can start?

This is directly from the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Owner's Manual:

o Driving and Operating 9-17

• Follow these recommended guidelines during the first 2414 km
(1500 mi) of driving this vehicle.

• Parts have a break-in period and performance will be better in the long run.

• For the first 322 km (200 mi):

o To break in new tires, drive at moderate speeds and avoid hard cornering for the first 322 km (200 mi).

o New brake linings also need a break-in period. Avoid making hard stops during the first 322 km (200 mi). This is recommended every time brake linings are replaced.

• For the first 800 km (500 mi):

o Avoid full throttle starts and abrupt stops.

o Do not exceed 4000 rpm.

o Avoid driving at any one constant speed, fast or slow, including the use of cruise control.

o Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the vehicle when the engine speed will exceed 4000 rpm.

o Do not let the engine labor. Never lug the engine. With a manual transmission, shift to the next lower gear. This rule applies at all times, not just during the break-in period.

• For the first 2414 km (1500 mi):

o Do not participate in track events, sport driving schools, or similar activities during the first 2414 km (1500 mi).

o Check engine oil with every refueling and add if necessary. Oil and fuel consumption may be higher than normal during the first 2414 km (1500 mi).

Checking the key in the fob is one I wouldn't have thought of, but a very good idea. I have a buddy that had a Mustang with a mismatched lockset from the factory and didn't discover that the key that started the car wouldn't open the doors until he locked himself out.
