2014 Corvette Stingray Dealer Allocation and Constraint Report
Not sure if this is the correct section to post this but here goes...
Attached are two documents my dealer provided to me today when he couldn't answer my questions concerning allocation and option constraints. I assume this is his weekly allocation and constraint report. Can someone provide an overview of these documents and give an explanation of what all this means to someone who is trying to order a new Corvette? It appears to me that if you want to order a new Corvette with ANY option that has carbon fiber content you are out of luck for a while...
Thanks in advance and again apologize if this belongs in different section.

Others here are much more qualified than I to walk you through the reports. I just thought I would kindly point out that the operative word is 'Constraint' not Restraint.

The first page is his allocation quota. It shows the allocation he has: 24 Coupes and 11 Convertibles is for the period of roughly 1/1/14 to the end of 2014 production in July (phase 2), so about 4 coupes and 2 convertibles per month.
Pages 2 & 3 are restrictions on ordering for the week that started 11/7 with a production target date of 12/2. His allocation report is not for that ordering period, which is still in phase 1.
In looking at the restriction report, anything that says 0% is completely unavailable; 50% means 50% of the orders placed can be for that code. If the option code is not on the list, in theory 100% of the cars can be ordered with that option.

I guess I'm beginning to see why my dealer had difficulty answering my questions. He now knows what his allocation is for the remainder of the model year, but he doesn't know what the future constraints on the options may be. So, how or who manages this mess. Does the dealer take orders (and cash deposits) and just send them to Bowling Green to let them figure it out as they go or, as the weekly constraints are released does the dealer go through his stack of orders and pull the ones that he thinks can actually be built? Does anyone have any ideas as to why they are having such a hard time with the carbon fiber options? Single source of supply that can't keep up? Or, did they just underestimate the demand for them by that much? Kind of sad that of the two pages of constrained options all but a few are against the Corvette product line. On the bright side, we still have it better than that one poor soul who is waiting for Chevy to build him that diesel powered Cruze!

Greater than 4 weeks for a regular roof? You have got to be kidding..

I don't understand GM's planning with their supplier's limited inventory. If GM projects it will need X amount of units with a major option, why not have the inventory available to complete the sale of units. I know there are always constraints, but a popular Z51 option with only 50% availablilty? I don't see GM doing this intentionally to drive up the price. Just bad planning.

My guess is that the constrained parts suppliers will not be working during the plant shutdown to catch up either.

I ordered my first Vette on 11/1 - red 3lt - Z51 with Carbon Fiber Instr. Panel - regular roof and transparent roof. This dealer is also supposed to be in the top 10 in sales. With that said, I understand the constraints, but I don't understand why I can't even get to the "1100" level - Preliminary Order Accepted while it seems some walk in yesterday and already have that number. I'm so anxious I know. I might add - $2000 non-refundable deposit to boot!
I think I messed up - gonna be a long wait.

Think constraint may be due to the number of convertibles being produced? Easy way to limit is to constrain the body colored roof.

It is actually more complicated than that. Your dealer with its 1 coupe and about 2 convertibles per month allocation will be able to order 1 coupe per week and 1 convertible every 2-3 weeks. When the week's order bank opens up and his allocation becomes available, he inputs his order(s) into the GM system, usually in the order taken by him (so if you are his 30th order, after he inputs the other 29 he would address yours, if a customer is not flexible, the order may change based upon what fits with the constraints in place for that ordering week - if he doesn't order a car that week, he loses that allocation forever.

Looks my vert order with Z51 package and carbon fiber interior is a long way off!

My vert order was placed on 09.09 but the constraint Z51 and carbon fiber dash packages are keeping me at 1100.

that makes me feel a little better
If your order was placed with the dealer it should be at status 1100, the issue is being accepted by GM which takes you to status 2000.
