I'm impressed with Andrew's mechanical abilities, I would never try to do that on my own if I was aware of what it entailed.
Think the odds of getting it back together w/o and squeaks or rattles would not be high. Can't contemplate all the hours and then the dreaded and highly annoying rattles and noises set in with the choice of do it over again, live with it or pay a dealer mechanic upwards of $100/hr and he might not get it right either.
I really like the HUD and almost never look at anything else for speed info. Don

We had his-hers C5's; one had the factory HUD, the other ... I added the HUD. I could go back & forth between the two, and see the difference. On the HUD windshield, it was if someone made a 1-2% improvement in the focus/sharpness. So small of an inprovement - that you wonder why they even bothered with it???

There are a number of things people get with the 2LT, which I have, that are desirable to my wife and I. Each to his/her own, spare us your very opinionated views. Don

Andrew its people like you who have made this country what it is. Folks with a sense of wanting to know more, having the courage and skill to do what most of us would not. I admire you for that!!!
Thats how things get done, discoveries are made and the world becomes better.
You the man!!!

The HUD and extra speaker were the two main options I wanted that weren't on the 1LT. Can honestly say that I don't miss them (not that I wouldn't mind having them). But there's no way on Earth I would attempt this!
Nice job!

I love the HUD. It's the main reason I got an LS2 interior. Between the HUD and the digital speed display in the center, I don't think I've looked at the speedometer even once while driving...
Thanks for sharing your project. I'm glad it's not me...

The HUD works better with that windshield; its the laminate between the 2 sheets of glass that does the reflecting.

Wiring Harness Part Numbers for HUD?
Did you ever get to GM part #s on all items primarily the 2 wiring harnesses needed? I plan to pull the dash this winter to complete my 2LT AR interior upgrade which includes replacing the dash with the red stitching. I will order it with the HUD option and upgrade the components to have HUD at the same time. I'm like you and have modified everything I own to make it better, and make it mine. I'm also doing an ECS centrifugal supercharger with ARH 1-7/8 long tune headers at the same time.
