Default Black Beauty has Arrived!

Found a Black Z51 with all the options I originally wanted in the order I've been waiting on in a town about 340 miles away. Negotiated the numbers over the phone and drove my happy *** down to Midland TX from Dallas to pickup my new Z51.

Had the dealer install my black gorilla lug nugs I had ordered a couple weeks ago. The car is dirty, after a 340 mile drive with bugs and dust. Tomorrow will be the first of many detail washing, and I'll take some more pictures.

Great car! No problems whats so ever! The cluster has zero dead pixels, no imperfections in the paint and no crazy misalignments with exterior or interior components.
  • Z51 Manual
  • 3LT
  • Suede interior trim
  • Performance Exhaust (sounds really good, especially when you turn off the sound management on the deck)
  • Two tops were included, the standard body painted and the clear/transparent.
  • Battery Protection Pack
  • Sat/NAV
  • Onstar

Wow that's sharp... Big congrats!

How is the ride without the MSRC option? Firm yet comfortable enough on uneven/non-smooth roads? Good enough & comfy enough to daily drive in an urban setting? Thanks for the feedback. Have fun with it, it looks great!

No problem whats so ever with no MSRC option. The steering, throttle and suspension are very responsive to whatever settings you drive it in without it. On the long ride home, I had it in ECO (got a 29.7 MPG average after 347 miles) and on freeway and city streets I have zero complaints about the suspension and it's ride. When you switch the car into Sport you can instantly feel the difference with all three variables. Before driving it in my driveway, I had it in sport mode on the city roads and it felt nice and tight, not so much as to give you a headache but definitely ready for the track.

Let me reiterate that turning off the exhaust sound management makes this car come alive (same as putting it in TRACK mode but without the super tight suspension changes and crazy sensitive throttle)!

While I haven't driven a C7 with the MSRC option, and being that I owned a C6 Z06, this car is by far much more comfortable when you want it to be but can still turn into a track ready machine on demand. With that said, I don't believe the MSRC is a must and would argue to save your money by not getting it.

One more note, the suede interior is FRACKING awesome! If you get this option, you will not regret it. Super soft, super elegant and very much appealing to the eye.

Nice feedback. Appreciate it. You found a nice build there. Still waiting for my Z51 spec'd coupe to be built... stuck awaiting TPW for awhile now so I am eager as well.

I agree on how nice the suede feels and looks. Very nice.

Congratulations on the new car. It's a beauty.

Very Nice!!!!! What is the sound management on the deck thing you referred to???? I also ordered the NPP exhaust and just assumed it was going to make the exhaust more free flowing to gain a little horsepower and naturally make it a little louder which is what I wanted anyway.

If I'm not mistaken, since you don't have mag ride, putting it in track mode may adjust the steering but has no effect on the suspension as the shocks are not adjustable.

That is absolutely gorgeous. I think that's gonna be the color combo. I LOVE the red calipers on the all black car

The exhaust sound management gives you TWO options. Auto (related to selected driver mode like ECO, TOURING, SPORT, TRACK etc)

and

OFF, which means that the exhaust valves stay completely wide open regardless of which driver select mode your in. Basically it's like taking your exhaust from a 30% volume to 100%.

You may be right, I'm not 100% sure either. The suspension in ECO mode was fairly tight to begin with. Maybe switching it to TRACK or SPORT gives you the illusion that the suspension tightens up further since the steering wheel and throttle response changes so dramatically.

Nice car.

Please tell us you did not pay the $21,999 optional charge. $91,119 is a bit too much.

Throttle response and steering feel are changed from mode to mode, so that is likely what you are feeling.

Suspension will be the same.

Nice report as I am on the fence about MSRC and will probably save the $ for some mods.

No I didn't I got it for 71k, they gave me 2k over black book on my trade in too, so that lowered the cost dramatically when considering sales tax.

I agree, I've tracked my ZO6, 911 Carrera S and have all the confidence of tracking this C7. Off the track the suspension is more than tolerable for daily driving (MUCH BETTER than my old C6 Z06). The non-competition seats are comfortable too. The only way they would not is if someone had widely large hips, where their sides would rest on the lower "wings" of the bottom cushion which would not be very nice. If your around the average weight/size than it will be fine.
