I have a feeling manuals are just fine for drag racing as long as you have the right driver, and he dosnt get "clutchitus".....

I know that they can be, I have pulled a 1.68s 60' on stock PS2s in my ZR1, but launching on a street tire is a much harder task with a manual with the power levels we are talking about.

I understand average Joe is quicker with auto, but the best drivers are still quicker with manual aren't they?
The top bone stock LS2 guy was auto while the LS3 is an M6. It looks like none of top LS2/LS3 guys got into the 1.7s 60' times. When you get into these power/tourque ranges lauching a manual on stock tire is difficult. You can see the Z06 guys has trouble getting the type of 60' time Snorman did. It will be interesting to see what the M6 C7 will do.

Very impressive indeed! I hope this silences the people that said 460hp wasn't enough, as it's clear now that the C7 is quicker than the LS3 C6. Just imagine how quick the higher performance version is going to be!

Yes, the key on higher HP RWD cars is a prepped track and a good driver (with the 60' times, obviously the OP knows how to launch). Can't go by magazine times at the GM proving grounds.

It will tough for the manuals to beat the autos at the drag strip.

Yeah...because it's not legitimate unless there's a video.
This is the first of probably several, as juicedhead21 on MJ.com has a bunch of passes on video.

Thanks Snorman for posting your numbers. They were exactly what I was hoping to see the C7's with an A6 turn. Plus with only 500 miles ! Fantastic! Now what tire pressure were you running ? I assume you were running your streeties..right ? Did you torque it up to 1-1200 rpm off the line or come off at an idle ? Plus, any burn out ?
As a final comment it looks like Atco got rid of the stupid cinder block gate by the water at the start. That's good to see. I hated doing burnouts near that cement wall in the back. Well from your comments I expect over the next couple of thousand miles on your car you can expect to easily pick up .5 secs. Good luck and I wish I had one too !

lol...I didn't even check the tire pressure except to look at it on the DIC. It was as delivered by GM, stock Michelins. As I said in the OP, no brake torqueing and left at idle. I did my burnouts in manual mode, backed into the box, started in 1st and shifted to 2nd to spin them hard for a few seconds then staged.
There were no tricks, or special procedures or prep or anything for any of these passes. The car wasn't sitting in the pits with a fan blowing on it and it had plenty of fuel in the tank.

Those runs were really nice. I have a 2014 A6/ Mag ride and would really like to know what track settings (and how you set them!) you were using.

Hell, my '08 Z08 only turned a 11.98 @122.

Thank you in advance for a reply.

Had the car in "Tr" mode and let it shift itself. 100% bone stock.
