Interior display mystery
Do the gauges automatically dim at night? I love the brightness/resolution of the gauges but mine seem dim on start up, then get bright.
Today I drove to work early before dawn and display was dim all the way in. Normal?

When the automatic system dims the lights, the dash lights go abnormally low for twilight conditions. A while back Paul said they were working on a firmware update that should be available to the dealer by January to fix that. He thought it would be covered by warranty.
Once it's darker outside the dash illumination is adequate. I notice it on mine too but it's not enough to quit driving .

I think it gets too dark too. I'm glad a fix is on the way.

Don't hold me to this, but I'm pretty sure the illumination sensor is the little dimple on the front-center of the dash at the base of the windshield. My '09 F150 and '13 C6 GS have the same "problem" during the in-between hours. Simple fix is to cover it with a piece of paper, your ball cap, or any other item that will block the ambient light to the sensor. Wah-lah!!! It thinks it's completely dark.

The problem is at dusk it gets dark and you want it to be brighter. So you need to fool it into thinking it's bright day sun. Shine a LED penlight batt on it and it should get brighter...

I hope a fix is coming......... shinning a pen light on it...... or maybe setting a candle near it could work...........but this should never have been found in the mule testing.
Fortunatly at dusk and dawn it is about a 10 minute issue and can be countered with the HUD.

Hmm, yer right. I admit I haven't played with the lights in my Vette yet. I guess I was thinking of my Ford. I cover the dash sensor to make the instrument lights come on at dusk, but that's because the dash is NOT NORMALLY LIT during the day, unlike the Vette. The Ford lights are on full brightness after dark and you control the display intensity with the dimmer ****.

I am sorry that you are experiencing this concern. I have documented the problem and sent it up and to the appropriate department. I do not have any answers at this time, but hopefully I will soon.

Glad I found this thread. I agree the Digital Dash needs to be abvle to be adjusted to a brighter setting at night time and especially the in between hours
